Today I have had the sensation of needing to urinate frequently. Until mid-afternoon I did urinate quite a bit, but now I only have the urge. I have no pain or burning, urine is clear. Being on azithromycin 250 mg. bid, is this even possible? I do feel like I have a fever with body aches, joint aches, and chills, but my temp went from 95.7 around 1 PM to a high of only 98.7 recently. If it is a UTI or bladder infection, will the azithromycin take care of it? Of course this happens on a Friday.

I dont know if its a UTI or just another symptom with the lyme.

I get this freguently, it will last for a couple days and then go away.

My husband gets this as well and his is the same as mine, will leave after a couple of days.

yes, this can happen!! Zith is not used for bladder infections .. so you need to get checked out

Many with Lyme also have Interstitial Cystitis .. like a 24/7 and 365 UTI...ugh

so .. find out which one it is .. I would bet on an infection

It could be from the medication that you feel the need to urinate more frequently. I get this a lot. Are you on any others with the zithromax?

I know they usually rx cipro or macrobid for UTIs. In my experience Macrobid is the one that always worked for me. I am not sure if zithromax would cover it. Google it to see if zithromax is rxed for UTIs?

Color and odor of urine is a telltale. It's easy to get rid of unless it moves up higher into the kidney areas. Then it's a problem.

Try Mannose, Uva Ursi, best probiotics.

Take care of it. Kidneys and liver are stressed with abx and other meds.

Take care.

It is a detox symptom with iodine supplementation, so I would imagine it could be a detox symptom for Lyme as well. When I first took iodine, the same feelings happened for several days. Almost a vibrating sensation (not in a good way either! [Smile] ). So annoying. It passed though. Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you all for your input. I woke this AM feeling fine. I didn't even get up during the night. We'll see if I stay improved. All very strange. If it does end up being a UTI/bladder infection it would be my first, and I'm 50.

Countrymouse, I'm wondering if it is a detox symptom as well. I started having symptoms late AM. At noon I treated myself to a facial, oddly because I am on azithromycin and tend to detox with bumps on my face...not true acne, just annoying bumps. The woman who did the facial even said, you must be on medication because your face is "congested". Hmm, I thought that was interesting.

Anyway, she also did a very intense upper body massage include neck, upper chest, upper back, arms, head, etc. While it all felt wonderful, within an hour after all that I began to have myalgias and arthalgias from head to toe and my urinary symptoms increased greatly.

If deep massage will cause me to herx, sign me up. I'll get one head to toe.

I don't know if this is relevant, but in the last week I have added grapefruit seed extract to my regimen.

had to go to E/R for what they determined to be cystitis 2 months ago.

i'm not on antibiotics for lyme at this time.

they gave me Cipro 500mg 1/day for 7 days. it worked.

when i start to feel like 1 is coming on, i use monistat, not the extra strength 1.

if that pain goes into the back, then i know it's bad and need Cipro again.

hope you're better, though.

That would indeed set MY bladder on fire! Ouch!

back2game: common "cystitis" is another word for a UTI

I take D-Mannose everyday to keep infections at bay.

Lyme and Bart both love the entire nether regions -- especially the bladder.

For years I battled what you described.

Two of the best things for me that stopped the problem:

topically putting a couple of drops of Tea tree oil over the pubic bone (Not internally!) and lower abdomen 2-3x daily until symptoms stop (you can dilute with any carrier oils such as olive, etc. if you have skin sensitivity -- just a few drops is all that is needed)

Second thing that helps unbelievably well is to take a very small (half the size of the pinkie nail or thereabouts) of bentonite clay -- usually stops the problem at least for me after 1-2 doses.
