I tested positive for Q-Fever and was wondering how many others out there have it?

It seems to cause heart issues if not treated...

Would love to hear from anyone who has/had Q-Fever and what sort of symptoms and treatment you had.

Adding 300 mg.'s of Doxy to the mix - not sure for how long. Thanks DW

treatment for q fever is something like 4 years I think.

Thanks.. I read the same thing for chronic cases.

I did not get the details on how bad and how long I have had it but will shortly.

Glad to be under the case of a great LLMD who actually tested for it.

It's hard for me to tell what is coming from lyme, babs or bart - now to add this to the mix is making my head spin.

I have had it in the past, but not active. I seem to remember a respiratory flu back several years ago.

Was around livestock a lot, so we figure that was the cause for me.

manybites; I am not sure what is coming from what as I have lyme, bart and babs.

I have primarily neuro. symptoms with chills, some sweats and fatigue.

The past week or two I have become very short of breath - something I never get and had an abnormal ECG at my LLMD - again something I have never had.

My understanding is Q-Fever effects the heart and heart valves.

my daughter tested positive for Q Fever. It is hard for me to sort out symptoms as she has Lyme, FL1953, and bartonella too.

A recent severe herx gave her a high fever (hadn't been over 97ish for over a year), chills, increased chest/arm pain, cough. LLMD suspects herx was from the coxiella.

I noticed a pretty big herx on Septra/Zythro combo. CHILLS, flu like, headache, dry cough (never get!), short of breath (never get!), body pain et al. But then came the rash /hive allergy so geez...

Anyway, I am going to the cardiologist today to make sure my ticker is okay. I am a runner/triathlete and never had any sort of cardio problems but better safe then sorry.

What scares me the most is I have a bovine pericardium patch in the back of my head and wonder if that could be the cause, given cattle are a main source. I never felt the same since that surgery.

Good Luck. I was also concerned about my daughter's heart with the chest pain and left arm pain. She checked out okay and is over the pain. Just backed off on meds for a week.

Look up the Dubbo Australia study on Q Fever and chronic fatigue syndrome -- and another study recently linked Q fever to some ME/CFS cases as well. It is known to cause both heart problems and an ME/CFS-like illness in some cases if not treated for long enough, so stick with the treatment!
