yeah, i'd say most people who dont live in year round sunny climate have low D.

Goes hand in hand with magnesium deficiency. If you are low in one, you are low in the other. And by definition, we are all low in magnesium.

Parasites also deplete D.

Lyme uses vitamin D for its benefit rather than letting you use it for yours, so this is going to deplete it as well. It is very draining on vitamin D supplies to have all the viruses that your body needs to kill, which requires vitamin D to do, it gets used up that way too.
