Help! I've had swollen lymph nodes off and on through my treatment.

I went to my GP today for a checkup, and he felt a swollen lymph node in my neck. Though what worried him is a swollen lymph node above my left collar bone?

Can any of you feel your lymph nodes here? I have to go for a sonogram tomorrow and I am extremely worried.

When I look up lymph nodes near collar bone, it does not look good.

I hope its only infection related. Please help!

I have them all over my neck, behind my ears and under my left armpit. I've been CT'd, MRI'd, etc.

They couldn't find anything "wrong". My LLMD could tell that I'm fighting infection, so that's why mine are swollen.

I feel it's best to rule out anything else and then you know it's due to infection.

What does it mean when lymph nodes swell in two or more areas of the body?

When lymph nodes swell in two or more areas of the body, it is called generalized lymphadenopathy. This may be caused by:

A viral illness, such as measles, rubella, chickenpox (varicella), or mumps.

Mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr virus), which results in fever, sore throat, and fatigue, or cytomegalovirus (CMV), a viral infection that causes symptoms similar to those of mononucleosis.

A bacterial illness, such as strep throat (caused by the streptococcus bacterium) or Lyme disease (a bacterial infection spread by certain types of ticks).
