Does anyone know anything about the dependability of a CD57 test in my 2 year old daughter. Her test results were 51 and now we are waiting on getting the lyme test done. Our doctor wanted to start with the CD57 first to see if we needed to continue on. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with low CD57's in their young children?

Do not rely in cd 57 .My son Cd 57 was 110 and my llmd did not wanted to treat him.

He had neuro lyme and lyme was found in the brain and in the liver with muscle testing.

He was highly pozitive on bartonella and babesia microti.

Now his lyme came back in his neck and back of the head.he needs treatment again.

I have heard for many, before puberty, the CD57 can be low even though the person is healthy. The reliability is much better after puberty (although some still don't like the test).

Hi kburch3211, what type of symptoms is your daughter having?

I'm so sorry your little one has to suffer from this damn disease!

As far as I know until third year the immune system is not fully developed yet, so I do not know how much is CD57 testing reliable. I certainly know small children do not produce antibodies e.g. to chlamydia.

Thank you all for responding. The problem with M is she is perfectly healthy until she is not. She has seizures and all the tests are normal. She runs temps of 102 when she seems fine. She went a full week without any urine output except from a catheter. She is very smart and interactive not the typical developmental problems of most Lyme Children. She is on medicine for seizures and it is not controlling them. With having Lyme myself and having these same symptoms I hate to see her go through it and not get treatment. We are just anxious to see what the Lyme results will say because we have also heard that we can get false negative in children at her age.

The seizures are from bartonella.I had activated bart before I had my son.
He was having high fevers like your daughter and he has brain lesion and I did not.She is born with bartonella that can cause seizure.

If you get ( false ) negative that will be like my son.He had high bartonella and high babesia but only one band of lyme in igenex. But it was in his brain .

I tested him in europe with Dr W that treated him for lyme only. If bartonella is high the test will not show many bands.

If you treat the child for bartonella first than babesia and lyme will show up more in test.

My son is older, he is twelve, but his CD57 test resulted a 23. Our LLMD (that took us 13 months and 6 doctors before we found him) used this number to confirm my son's lyme. His western blot was somewhat inconclusive, but he felt this determined that it was Lyme. He said that Lyme is the only thing that can bring these numbers down. We trust him completely and he has been so wonderful. I don't know if it is the same in kids as young as yours, but if you have it and your child has these symptoms, I would find a doctor who will confirm that it is Lyme. Our doctor believes it is very easily passed down with pregnancy. Let me know if you want more info. Good luck.
