I recently started IV Rocephin (4days on 3days off), just started my second round yesterday.

At the beginning of my IV treatment (last week), my potassium was low 3.3; this was discovered after 1 dose of Rocephin. Over the last year of my sickness my potassium has not been this low.

I take multi-minerals, multi-vitamin, drink coconut water, eat nuts, greens and beans...no bananas.

How is this attributed to lyme/co-infections? What else could I do to boost it?

Thank you for advice.

My husband had low potassium (he doesn't have lyme) and it was attributed to HCZT a diuretic for high blood pressure. You aren't taking anything like that??

What is the normal range from the lab that did your test? Is your result below normal?

When I was first diagnosed, my postassium was severely low at 1.8 with a range of 3.5-5.5. I had to take several prescription potassium pills daily for a long time. No cause was ever found.

You may want to do a search on other potassium rich foods that you can add to your diet.

Make sure you have your level tested regularly.

I had the same thing right after the car accident and babesia and FRY Fl1953 bug exsploded.I treated bartonella and lyme before that but this two coinfections were untreated.

I had potasium very low and it was very dangerous for my heart. The IV did not cover babesia or the protozoa , I also had hypercoagulation -Bloot clott at the same time.My RBC droped tremendously as well .I have a very active babesia.
