So..I'm at about my 5th week of Bicillin.

The last 2 times my wife gave me my shot, some Bicillin oozed back out through the hole in my skin. Yuck.

Anyone else get this and how do you prevent it?

Also...does it always feel different when you get your shots? sometimes I can feel it deep in the muscle and the entire muscle will ache for 20-30 min. Other times it is uncomfortable only for a minute or so afterwards. Both times the needle is in the appropriate area and my wife says the needle is in all the way.

Suggestions?

sometimes a little comes out-- its ok, i don't think there is anything you can do about it.

And every shot is kinda different, some hurt more than others, some bleed, some don't.

I think this is all normal.

Instead of pinching your skin to give you the shot, have your wife tug your skin downwards to make a z-track.

It's hard to describe verbally but I'm going to try anyways. So you gently tug down the skin with your 4 fingers, brace the skin in place with your thumb, then put your 4 fingers back up to create the nice tight surface where you are going to give the injection. Wish I could show you because I know that this is a horrible explanation.

Once you give the injection and pull the needle out, the skin and soft tissue goes back to it's original position and locks the medication in place. Z-track method keeps it from leaking out.

It is totally normal.

And I used a method very similar to Sammy's.

Only thing I could add is that you could try waiting a few moments after injecting the last bit of bicillin before removing the needle, to try to let the muscle absorb it better/more.

Good Luck

Yes, make sure it is injected very slowly so it has a chance to absorb in the muscle. I have graduated to doing my own and yes, it is different every time.
