Is there a connection? My 5 year old gets frequent nosebleeds. He was diagnosed with Lyme last year and had about 4 months of treatment. He has started complaining again lately...and he gets frequent nosebleeds.

He called for me last night and said his head hurt and his leg hurt. He was holding his head, so I turned the light on and a few minutes later, his nose started to gush.

I thought the nosebleeds were due to the dry air in the house, but I have placed bowls of water around his room and I just thought it was strange last night that he was complaining of his head and then his nose started to bleed.

Is this a common symptom in children with Lyme? I am taking him to an LLMD on Monday.

I had nosebleeds all the time when I was a kid. Got Lyme at age 4.

But my Grandmother also had nosebleeds when she was a kid, and I do not think she had Lyme (she was generally pretty healthy most of her life).

I also have a mild form of hemophilia, and my Grandmother also had problems with bleeding.

I'd suggest having his blood tested for bleeding/clotting disorders.

Sometimes nosebleeds are caused by mold. So you may want to have your home tested for molds.

I was going to say mold also. As mold is often associated with the chronic lyme conditions that we suffer. Such a big issue....

Good luck.

We did just have it tested and we do have mold all in our crawl space. He didn't seem to think we had an issue inside. A couple spots were questionable so he is coming back to take out the baseboards and check behind. Our house is relatively new - 5 years old.

The mold guy said the crawl space fungus would be a problem for those who are immune compromised like we are, but would not be a problem for healthy people. It was found all over our a/c unit and he said 60% of the downstairs air we breathe in comes from the crawl space so could be a major issue in keeping us from getting well.

Thank you! I will ask our LLMD tomorrow about mold.

I had nosebleeds as a child, whereas my siblings did not. And here I am with lyme that I think I had since childhood and apparently they do not have lyme.

Maybe there is some connection.
