frined of mine has a bite with a bullseye rash. notice a week ago. no other sypmtoms. never saw a tick. nurse thinks it could be lyme gave him 100mg doxy 2x day.
i advised him to up doxy to 200mg 2x a day and to see a dermitologise in case of it being something else.
am i missing something?

I'm pretty new here, but everything I've read says if the rash is visible, the person is Lyme infected.
He most likely needs to find an LLMD right away and definitely double the Doxy to 400 mg per day.
This is just what I've read and been told. Someone more experienced will come along and reply, I'm sure.

Still, I think he needs to see a LLMD ASAP.
I wonder if given Flagyl early on, lyme might be more quickly addressed as Doxy targets only the spirochete form and kills some but can also cause some spirochetes to go into cyst form.

Susan's "dates" and "proof" can really matter. Some doctors may not believe it would be the patient in the photo so at least one photo with their FACE is vital.
Use of a mirror to capture the face may be necessary if the rash in on lower the back or back of legs.
A newspaper's date line - or something with the date - is important in another shot as well as relative size by putting a ruler or clean coin near the rash in a close up.
The best natural light is good and try to show the texture of the skin with different angles.
Keep the original set. Never give that away. -

Thank you, Keebler for your excellent advice and reminding us to thoroughly document a suspicious rash.
Keebler - this should be on a permanent post. So many people are so disturbed and upset when they find a weird rash that they never think of "recording" it.
This has happened to me in the past. We are getting into the warmer weather and there will be biting bugs, everywhere!
All suspicious bites must be recorded. My latest blog tells my story of transmission through mosquitoes.
We aren't in the mosquito season, yet, but I have a feeling this year will be a doozy!
