Taking Doxy 2X per day, how does anyone fit their schedule of food(Iron) and vitamins/supplements around them?

I take it 7:30 am and 7:30 pm, which means I really cannot start eating and taking my supplements until 10am and have to stop taking my supplements with my 4:30 meal, than take them again with my dinner at 10pm.

I have my egg white protein shakes inside the window of taking the Doxy, but it`s all such an inconveneince and I`m afraid some supplements are not being absorbed effectively because I am taking too many together and not spreading them out enough.

Does anyone know if it would be OK to just take the 200mgs of Doxy at once, rather than taking 100mgs 2X per day?

To top it off, i`ve been on for 15 days @200mgs and haven`t noticed it doing anything one way o another.

Supplements i`m taking:

C
D
E
B-complex
B-6
B-12
Pantethine
Tyrosine
5-htp
Magnesium
selenium
Folic Acid
Quercetin
Co-Q10
Deflect-O
Zinc
Calcium
PB8 pro-biotic

Q: Would it be okay to take 200mgs of Doxy at once, rather than taking 100mgs 2X per day?

No. It must be twice a day.

But, that dose is not enough to treat lyme. Sorry to be the one to tell you that.

Are you sure the doctor you are seeing is an ILADS-minded lyme literate doctor? One such would not suggest that low of a dose. It should be at double that, along with flagyl or other agent that will also address the cyst form of lyme.

Don't know what "Deflect-O" is as I can't find it from a Google search (it just comes up as a plastic floor protector and I'm sure you are not swallowing on those every day).

Generally, keep separate by a couple hours each direction:

SUPPLEMENTS: herbs & vitamins can often be combined are are usually best with a meal or substantial snack as they are food-based themselves. B-vitamins really need a good amount of food as the niacin (B3) can cause nausea otherwise.

PROBIOTICS need space of their own. Just as Rx can negate them, so can some herbs.

RX, according to direction.

5-HTP (that may be for evening dose only. Check directions)

I tried another kind of search and see that

"Deflect O provides anti-adhesive therapy"

I can't say when to take that but all other supplements besides 5-HTP appear to be fine together with food (and that may, too, but I think if more of a bedtime dose).

Zinc may also be more toward evening.

I'm not a professional, though, this is just my take on the bunch.

Keebler: Thanks for the response. Yes, my LLMD is ILAD`s. He was a former president. He believes I have had an ongoing infection and more than likely tickborne, but wanted to start me out light at 200mgs per day to see how I reacted. I asked him if we could start out out 400mgs, but he said we could always up the dose next month if need be or change/add abx. Seemed like a good plan.

This is something I may have had for up to 30 years. I have not been tested in 12 years, before they were testing for Bartonella. I would like to take the lyme culture test in the near future, but broke right now. Also have to go off abx for 4+ weeks.

Deflect O is a product made by my ND Peter D`Adamo. It is a lectin blocker formula for my blood type. It is to be taken with each meal, as many food contain lectins. Lectins can bind to many of the carbohydrate antigens found in the gut and immune system, causing a variety of health problems.

Thanks for all the insight. I was just concerned some things would not gel with one another. Doxy says no iron containing foods or and vitamins/supplements 2 hours before or after each dose. If I felt the Doxy was actually doing something, I would not mind all the juggling around.

Well, sorry you are going through all this but glad to hear that you have an ILADS LL doctor and there is knowledge and a plan.

As this has been with you for a while it does make sense to start slowly, then, and the treatment plan is open to advanced measures along the way.

Hey, other than Magnesium I do not see any LIVER SUPPORT on your list. Milk Thistle is often very helpful.

Fatty Acids (Fish Oil, Omega oils) also seem absent. Hope you can add that - &/or eat Wild Salmon or Sardines 3 x week.

Many here have to do this on a shoestring. I wonder - if your stomach can handle it - if adding a clove of organic garlic 2 x a day would help? (The clove is the almond sized piece from the larger bulb).

I would start with a small one in the middle of a solid breakfast or lunch. Too late in the day could be too stimulating. You might ask your LLMD.

Good luck.

Keebler: Yes, I take in plenty of fish oil and omega 3`s with my meals. Haven`t gotten any liver support yet, but will if my abx tx go up higher than what i`m currently at.

I follow my ND`s (Peter D`Adamo) Genotype diet religously, so I try to stay away from my avoid foods list. Garlic is one of them, and I love garlic. All onions are a superfood for me, so I eat lots every day.

How many supplements are you currently taking?

The only supplements that you can't take with Doxy are +2 valence metals, which for you are Mg, Ca and Zinc. When I take doxy, I take it in the morning and evenings, and take the metals at lunch.
