I have MTHFR C667T heterozygous and high serum B12 (1700) and folate >24. My homocysteine level is 5.6, methylmalonic acid is normal -120 (range 73-376), intrinsic factor antibody is negative.

Technically these test results do not indicate a B12 or folate deficiency but my research re the C677T mutation indicates that my levels may be high due to the fact that my body is not able to convert B12 and folate to an absorbable form.....so I could have some deficiency.

I'm currently experiencing symptoms that could be related to b12/folate deficiency (i.e. fatigued, off balance feeling, concentration is not good, strange feeling in lower legs and lower arms) but I know these could also be related to lyme and candida as well.

LLMD doesn't think it's a b12/folate deficiency but is willing to have me try Metanx or Methyl Protect before we explore other treatment options.

Any advice or thoughts regarding my situation?

Anyone have any experience with Metanx or MethylProtect?

Thank you so much!

Thanks, fflutterby.....have you been having any kind of symptoms that may be related to b12 or folate deficiency?

My daughter has been taking Methyl Protect and 5-MTHF for a couple months. Will post when/if I see any changes.

Also added additional detox supps and rifampin. She has certainly experienced increased sweating. Maybe improved detoxing or hitting bartonella? Seeing the dr. next week.

She also has high B12, and one copy of 667T gene.

Thanks Sickofsick......can you share why you need 5 MTHF as well?

What detox supplements would be good to take with this?

Did your daughter start these products gradually? Were there any initial side effects?

Sorry for all the questions.

JJ29 , I have just been tired and felt toxic. I am not sure if my symptoms are directly related to b12 or folate deficiency, but it makes sense. Time will tell.

Fflutterby, are you on any binders?

I read that when the methylation block is lifted you may release toxins faster than the body can get rid of them and a binder may be helpful to prevent them from recirculating in your system and making you feel worse.....hope someone more knowledgeable about this can explain further.

I am about to start Methyl Protect soon, as well, and am wondering if I should take it gradually ....... open the capsule and start with a smaller dose and ramp up to the full dose based on how I feel.

Can someone with experience regarding methylation supplement
use etc. please advise?
