Our pediatrician prescribed Cipro for my teenage son's sinus infection.
After doing some homework, I don't think he needs to be on this stuff. It says nobody under 18 should be on it.
Last night he was really wound up, hyper, he is usually very laid back, quiet. Not normal behavior for him. The only thing I can think of that might have cause it is the cipro.
I would like to call the doctor and ask for a Z-Pack instead. He usually tolerates it well, and is allergic most of the others.
Is it safe to take zithromax right after cipro?
I would appreciate any advice.

I don't have any advice for you, just some personal experience with Cipro.
My teenage son was started on Cipro and after one dose, he started to shake. His LLMD stopped it right away and he has not taken it since.
I can't remember which medication was substituted for the Cipro. Btw-this medicine was given as part of his Lyme disease treatment, not a sinus infection.
Did your son's Lyme doctor prescribe Cipro or was it his GP? I would definitely call him and let him know about this.
I'd get your son some Seagate brand Olive Leaf extract, start him out on 1 capsule 3x per day then increase after a few days to 2 capsules 3x day. I am not affiliated in any way with this product -just trying to help.
Get a Neti pot from your local health food store and have him use it on his sinuses using warm water and sea salt.
You can research about the Olive Leaf extract and Neti pot on Lymenet. There are many posts about them.

It was his pediatrician who prescribed it.
Since posting, I did a little more reading - two black box warnings.
I took levaquin, cipro's cousin, for a kidney infection a few years ago and ended up with tendonitis in my heel that lasted for a year.
I'm just not comfortable with this. Have a call into the pediatrician's; they are opem 'til noon today, so hopefully I can get him something else.
We have tried olive leaf, not Seagate, but another brand from Whole Foods, which I take regularly, and a horde of other natural stuff. This infection just won't let go.
He has pretty bad allergies which turn into secondary infections. Have tried not to tx with abx, but needed to try something else. He is so worn out from this.
He also rxed a steroid spray. We wont' be touching that. Got him some saline instead. Will look into the neti pot.
