I just got back from my ENT doc, I had a CT scan done for sinus pressure. Well, I have a cyct in one
of the larger sinuses and my sinuses around my eyes and forehead have thick walls causing pressure.
Basically, chronic sinusitis. He said I would be a good candidate for a sinus surgery if I continued
to feel uncomfortable, but said I should give it 6 months with flonase to see if the sx reside.
My question is how many folks have had similar sinus issues with facial pressure?
Was Lyme the culprit?
Has anyone had the surgery or gotten well without it just be treating lyme?
I am very hesitant to use flonase due to the fact that it is a steroid. However, as everyone knows,
feeling like crap stinks too.

Yes, I had the same issues and it was all FUNGAL in nature. My ENT never even considered the fact that it could be fungal. You'd think with all that scoping they do, that they'd actually pull out a swab and do a culture so they know what they are dealing with.
I am currently dealing with terrible sinus issues myself following a horrible upper respiratory virus. Everyone in my work was sick with the same thing as well so chances are its not lyme related atleast for me. I am currently using flonase and I use advair inhaler as well. My LLMD said not to be concerned about using either one of these products. These are very different than the oral steroid prednisone.

Sinus problems seem to be common among people with Lyme. A chronic infection causes elevated levels of fibrin in the blood, which causes hypercoagulation.
This hypercoagulation and the inflammation from the infection is related to all the sinus problems.
Serrapeptase, a systemic enzyme, reduces the inflammation and the fibrin, and the sinus issues clear.

Thank you everyone for responding. I really appreciate it. I'm just on overload right now and don't know which
way is up. I just started a diflucan/nysatin regiment today hoping that it will help with these sinus issues. I
really do not want to have to go through an unnecessary surgery.

I take FenuThyme and antihistamines to help my sinus congestion; nothing else helps.

I don't know if this will help or not, but my first LLMD advised me to take either Sinusin or Xlear for sinus pressure and loss of sense of smell. She stated that both are homeopathic and safe with Lyme.

I had major sinus issues. My LLNP said it was Bart. She was right (treated for bart and it got better).

Dealt with chronic sinusitis many years. The chronic h/a and fevers with no abx helping led to my CT scan to which they found a cyst (blob) of stuff, and totally blocked sinuses.
I had the surgery because i was in so much pain/constant fevers. I had tried the sinus washes, OLE,Xclear, neti with all sorts of concoctions. Tried many rounds of abx, with no help.
They pulled out the blob, enlarged my turbinates, and fixed my deviated septum. All went well. After surgery my sinuses burned fiercy for awhile, and had splints in my nose for a week and told not to blow my nose. I had to sleep sitting up for a week, but things were good for awhile.
I did not know I had lyme then. Later, started getting sinus issues again. For me sugar aggervated it, so I know it was fungal. Diflucan typically helped.
Because I had my turbinates enlarged, they always drained well which I thought was the best outcome of the surgery.
Now if I feel sinus issues coming on, I really crack down on the diet, use the neti pot and and I'm usually fine.
For me... I'm glad I had the surgery. I don't think I could of got that blob of stuff out myself. It had gone chronic too far too long.
Honestly lyme treatment didn't do much for my sinuses. Only when I was doing diflucan. And I had Bart pretty bad.

My sinuses always feel much better when treating lyme, but that does not necessarily mean my sinuses are being caused by lyme.
I do have chronic allergies so my sinuses tend to be be disasterous.
Because the meds I have taken for lyme/co.s are the same as what you take for a sinus infection it could simply be the abx.s are treating both the sinus infection and lyme at the same time.
Levaquin and Biaxin are the two best abx.s for sinus infections (according to my ENT)and I have taken both long term for lyme and co.s. Sinuses cleared up while on them - lyme or sinus or both.Never really know...
