I added E-lytes today and afterwards felt depressed and tired. Why would electrolytes do this?

Ingredients
Purified water, potassium, sodium, magnesium, chloride, phosphate, bicarbonate, sulfate

Are you sensitive to any of the ingrediants?

Perhaps sulfate?

I cannot imagine why electrolyte would do that..

I'm with desertwind, likely the sulfate.

Maybe just too concentrated, not enough water or too far removed from a meal?

Food sources may be best to get electrolytes - or at least soon after a meal or well balanced snack.

I'm not sure our body is designed to have electrolytes in this kind of form that is so fast acting. WHOLE food sources are best.

But, wait, I was thinking this was a powder and realize that it's a liquid (first ingredient: water).

So, if in plastic, that could also be affecting you as the plastic has likely been warm and there can be petroleum byproducts in the bottle. If you are chemically sensitive that could cause a fast reaction.

Hubby used to have problems taking elyte solution -- even when mixed in water if he had gastritis. The sodium irritated his G.I. even more.

Another possibility is that the amount of bicarb is changing your ph. I don't remember that as being an ingredient in the brand hubby took. Many people are very sensitive to changes in ph.

All very good points.

Seibert - interesting regarding the bicarb. I did notice I was burping afterwards. It does seem to change the pH too drastically.

Sulfate might be a problem too

What about making a lemon + sea salt + honey to replace electrolytes?

I do that mixture and it works well for me.

I also use Vega brand and so far so good with that one. I think it is call Vega Performance Electroylte.

Could it have caused some detoxing?

That's def possible too. Could have shuttled some metals around that quickly I suppose.
