Hi all
I have been taking Artemisinin for beginning babs treatment for 4 days. My doc said to expect to feel worse after 3 to 4 days.

I don't feel worse overall....but I really think that is because I have been taking lipisomal glutathione and it is helping my energy in a nice way.

I do notice that again I feel dizzy. When I tell my PT this he says "which way are you spinning?"...but I am not exactly spinning.

I feel like I am falling in whatever direction I move. Like when my head stops moving in that direction I don't feel like I stop.

Is this a babs "tippy" feeling? It is not true vertigo.

Wondering because the tippy feeling, neck pain, and headaches are what have gotten a little worse since starting art, but I don't feel as badly as I anticipated.

Does this sound like the kind of die off I could anticipate with Babs treatment?

I am asking because LLMD said that that would sort of "prove" that babs is in play here. I think it is, but as I said I expected to feel a lot worse than this.

Thanks Peggy

Yep, my neck and head pain, and night sweats all got worse, was really tired, and I had the tippy feeling you're describing.

I described it as feeling like you're on a boat that's rocking very slowly. Makes it hard to keep your balance.

Well, are you up to the full dose and taking it on an empty stomach?

If not, you may notice a little more happening once you do these things.

Otherwise, it may be that your case of babs isn't bad (meaning not a high germ load) and when you treat for it you may have an experience like mine--not bad at all.

To save money, you could ask to be put on Bactrim DS along with the art instead of mepron. That's how I got rid of babs. My doc says it takes twice as long as using mepron/zith, but it will do the job.

That may not be true for everyone, but if your babs is mild, it may do the trick for you. Hope so.

The Bactrim also hits bart, so it's a two fer.

TF yes I sort of started at full dose...4 days on which I just completed....and 3 days off. So I expected to feel a bit worse by now in every way instead of just a few ways.

Yes I am taking it on an empty stomach.

The other thing that has worsened is my skin.....the itching is intense in the places where I have it (some I can mention, some I can't). Not sure if this is babs or somthing else.

The tippy feeling head and neck pain are definitely bad...but its all relative in this disease anyway.

Will ask llmd about this.

I am allergic to bactrim so that will be a no go for me.

Ralphi...thanks...the boat explanation is a good one. I have also been having sleeplessness but I think the glutatione is helping to counteract some of the fatigue.

We may go the mepron route but I think she wanted to make sure it was worth it based on my response to art.

Confusing......

OK TF....as usual you are right.

I was at the doseage that the doc wanted me to start at which ended up being 500 mg a day, she wants me to add one capsule in the morning and one capsule in the evening and bring it up to 750 when I start my next pulse.

She said not everyone herxes on Art.....just don't know what it means in terms of babs prescence.

The tippy feeling chills, slight night sweats etc. all point to babs.

So apparently not at full dose and we will see when that starts on Thursday (as of Thursday I will have only 5 days until I need to be summer mom...who will need way too much energy to survive herxes......ugh)

[Smile]

Wow I take 1800 MG / day. I do get "tippy". But not so outlandishly bad that I feel it's too much. 4 days/ week.

hmmmmm
That is interesting. No wonder no herxing yet.

Will have to see what happens next weekend.

Today I am totally exhausted. since about 6 weeks ago I have been fatigued, but not having to sleep during the day, but having to rest often. It has been the one way I know I am making some progress.

Today I am wiped, very dizzy, and just sleepy. It is not achy fatigue but needing desperately to sleep.

Maybe a small herx. Maybe just a reaction to a stressful day yesterday.

I got up, got my kids to school, cancelled appts, and went to bed. I am just now waking up and worrying about cleaning up.

Not sure if I can......

Thanks everyone for your input

Why do you say your not herxing when you're "wiped out, very dizzy and sleepy?"

Sounds like a herx to me!

Lymetoo...I know.

2 weeks ago I had an 8 day herx that was so bad I didn't think I was going to make it.

So I expected worse. The fatigue is different than the usual fatigue too. IE I slept this morning and it actually helped a little.

Who knew there were so many different types of fatigue?

I guess it is not as bad as I had anticipated but......as you can see above I am not up to full dose yet.

Thank you.

Be careful. Sleepy has always meant yeast for me. Be sure to take extra probiotics if you're sleepy.

My babs flares/herxes (once they got milder) were generally an overwhelming need to go to sleep.

Yes, PME, when my babs was really bad I felt like my body was tipped at a 45 degree angle. Probably the strangest symptoms I have every had. Not spinning at all, just tipping. I would run into things a lot. It was better when I was sitting or lying down.

And yes, it did flare when I started Art. Art is very strong and really helped a lot. Now my babs is so much better that I was actually thinking of posting and asking how will I know when it's gone. We are shifting focus to Bart.

Cat..I ran out of probiotcs for a couple of days so I think there may be a bit of yeast at play.

TF thanks. You have such a great way of saying things with certainty....which is really nice. So little is known for sure about this except that it behaves differently in everyone. Anyway that is what I felt...an overwhelming need to go to sleep.

Thanks Keeb

WP yes I feel like that but I don't stay there. I have to keep righting myself. It is good to know this is normal babs so we can answer the question of if it exists for me. I am sure it does.
