I don't think so. By definition a parasite is something that takes from the host. But this question was raised in my own mind, then someone just recently asked the same thing.

I know someone who was very ill w/ chronic illness and became allergic to more and more foods until he could eat almost nothing.

He heard that in India, where most have parasites, hookworm at the very least, people have virtually no allergies like food or airborne allergies.

He got innoculated with hookworm and ALL his allergies went away.

I know this person personally so this is a true story.

Is this what you're asking? If parasites can be beneficial?

Hi hens [hi]

Yes, that is what I was wondering.... if there is such a thing as a beneficial parasite (although I was thinking probably no). Very interesting story above. Sounds crazy, but since you know this person, I know it's true.

Maybe instead of getting inoculated WITH hookworm, he got inoculated AGAINST hookworm???

Hey Tammy,

There is actually therapy for autoimmune and other disorders that use hookworms and whip worms- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helminthic_therapy

several blogs about good outcomes as well! This one speaks about whip worms helping with dysautonomia:

I read about some people who use fecal implants of some parasite egg to treat colitis - I believe. So, they aren't always bad. The body needs to seek a balance in my opinion.

We will never completely irradicate all parasites. I think they help the body to decompose when we die. I guess you don't want to create an environment that favors them over your potential health, though.

If they are making you sick - they aren't good. If you take all kinds of things to get rid of them - they will probably come back at some point. The eggs are microscopic & they are everywhere.

You just don't want them to get the upper hand... When you can get a balance with them - it's probably a good idea to eat anti-parasite foods & do a parasite cleanse every so often. Unless, you are doing some kind of therapy with them...

Kind of gross but it's life... We can co-exist with some bugs & pathogens. It's not really "natural" to irradicate all bacteria or things that seem gross. The human biome is very complicated but I think balance is key.

I guess that is sort of what the comcept of milleu is about. If the body is fuctioning properly - it will defend itself against toxic invasions.

I agree, I think it's all about balance. Dust mites eat our dead skin in bed. I know it's gross, but it's part of nature.

Lyme creates a huge imbalance in our bodies and that's when all the other stuff takes over. We can only fight so much. That's why we need all the help we can get so we can get our bodies back in balance.

I have heard of the use of ringworm as well. I believe the person had allergies and gastro issues.

He went to India and walked barefoot in egg infested areas and he succeded. He was symptom free thereafter & reported it on a tv show.

I've read that it's actually good for childern to be exposed to farm animals. It makes them less prone to allergies later in life. I think being exposed to alot of toxic materials like man-made chemicals, heavy metals, etc. make it difficult for the body to function properly. So, that may be why the bugs get out of balance & cause illness to begin with.

Wow, all very interesting.... Thanks for your replies.

I can tell my parasites are out of balance, just by what I am passing while on treatment. And my symptoms have been reducing significantly.

Balance is everything I guess.
