Hi All--

I have been taking Benadryl (Diphenhydramine)
for sleep --
It works about as good as anything else that I have taken for sleep-

Im taking 3 - 25mg pills (75mg total) about 3
hours before I want to fall asleep --

Benadryl is for allergies/hayfever --

Its cheap / no script / over the counter--

It took about 4 days of taking it for it to start
working well for me --

Hope it keeps working for me and helps you too--
---Jay---

Hi Jay - that's what I take for sleep too. I start with 25mg and see if that'll do it, then add another. It can be prescribed, too.

I don't really like to take that many of them, so some nights I stay up all night, drink coffee during the day, and go to sleep naturally in the early eve the next day. That seems to work, to get back on a normal schedule for awhile!

I've been doing the same thing, three about an hour before bed time.....will try taking it earlier to see if it's even more effective.

I also learned that I was over hydrating which kept me running to the potty several times at night. I began to realize that the water drinking was just a habit.....I've cut to about half of what I was drinking and especially after six PM.

I have learned that drinking for thirst is much different than drinking 'eight' glasses or more a day. I'm following the my thirst and, yes, after pool exercise or a hike, I need a bit more water.

i started taking benadryl every night to help with sleep - a few weeks later i couldn't figure out why i had to urinate every 15 minutes - seems that benadryl can cause it - I stopped the benadryl and the frequent urination problem disappeared almost overnight....

It's working for me too. My LLMD said it's okay to take it. I was having EXTREME anxiety and restlessness on Rifampin. Benadryl is the only thing helping me get ANY rest.

There are studies linking the active ingredient in Benadryl and over-the-counter sleep aids, with brain damage.

Do not use long term!

Peace, love and Wellness,
