Does anybody here know of ANYBODY that has had a blood exchange for chronic babesia...I mean, 10 years, 4 llmd's, and every medication in every combination......and extremely ill.

Where would one start to ask for this>?? Got any llmd's to recommend?

ManyBites,

Blood transfusion is NOT the same as blood exchange. Blood exchange is when the blood is filtered to try to remove impurities.

LymeWreck,

I think the only way you would ever get a blood exchange approved would be to have a current positive babesia test and then fail the standard 10 day IDSA treatment for babesia. Think this is only available at large teaching or university hospitals and most likely only done by IDSA docs.

"exchange transfusion repetitive withdrawal of small amounts of blood and replacement with donor blood, until a large proportion of the original volume has been replaced."

NY?

LA?

Boston?

Usually whole blood exchange involves using packed cells from donor.

How it is done:

I agree that you likely need to have a positive smear for the exchange transfusion to be approved.

Hi folks:

This is how it is, and I cling to every word you have to say. May God bless you in every way for taking the time to speak to me on this subject.

I wake in the morning in huge panic attacks and crying jags that scare the mess out of my children who are helpless to help me, and I have no where to turn. I don't know if anyone out there has been in my shoes,...and lived. But I am scared ....less.

Also, I live in Switerland, and they won't stick a needle in you or give you a pill unless you are on death's door. And they speak the IDSA mantra. But I fly to the U.S. for my lyme doc appointments for myself and my family.

I have failed all of the following:

plaquenil/mepron/zith/art/malerone
doxy
cleocin
lariam
bactrim
mepron
cryptolosis
allicin
daraprim
coertum
flagyl
.....

Oh gee, I know there is more, and yes, done all of the above in every combination.

And yes, I have detoxed like crazy and been to see Dr. W in Germany to do biophotons as well.

I've done it all.

And now I'm clinging to some herbs (Zhang) and cleocin with artimisinin and cryptosis to hit both the lyme/babs, and having severe symptom break out regularly every day.

I know when this combo doesn't hold, i have no where to turn and need to have something lined up, or know I can go somewhere for a blood exchange.

So if you had one, please private message me with the doc details.

I have had one positive babs test, both from lab corp and/or from Igenex almost every year for the past 10 years.

I appear to have ducani and microti

When I read a post about someone who failed everything and has no where to turn, I literally start to hyperventilate.

I'd gracefully throw in the towel, but I have three daughters that are counting on me fighting to the bitter end.

We used to hit the lyme/babs very hard and aggressively, but my body no longer wishes to do that and I get severe adverse reactions, autoimmune reactions and kidney problems when I do that. So now it is all about "controlling" the disease with low doses to survive. There will be no cure for me, but I want to live.

I love my husband very much and just think he got a rotten deal.

Plasmaphoresis -- yes that is what Mary is asking about. I just couldn't remember the term.

Hey guys, I looked up plasmapheresis, and I read that this is used to treat autoimmune diseases, and does not say it is used to treat infectious diseases, so maybe when I say complete blood exchange, I am not talking about this plasmapheresis. So, what do you think?

Mary
