i asked my dr's office about my diverticulitis and they said it's caused by straining etc., and the pouches become infected. not parasites at all.

i've read other sources on the web where they say it's all parasites.

so if it's parasites why do they give you abx or want to take your colon out where it's infected.

i'm confused...as always...

i'm still having a very tender lower abdomin on both sides. bowel movements are normal but slightly painful. i can't lean against the counter or even sleep on my side it hurts so.

i just haven't been the same since doing humaworm. it's either really destroyed my system or stirred something awful up.

They give you abx because it is an infection and it can be very serious. You can develop an abscess or get small tears or perforations which would require immediate surgery...maybe even a colostomy bag.

If your still having pain, you need to see the doc again.

What are you eating? After having a diverticulitis flare, you should be reintroducing foods SLOWLY. You want to give your bowels a rest so you should be eating a LOW residue, low fiber diet. Gradually working your way up to a high fiber one.

At this point...if you're having that much pain, and it is diverticulitis, you should be sticking with broths only and getting back on abx.

Hmmm, not exactly.
Diverticulitis is caused by weak points in the intestinal walls, that split and get pushed out by the force in the intestines.

Those weak points form because of problems in the cells and the connective tissue...some of which may be due to deficiencies caused by tick borne infections.

You can also develop weak spots in blood vessels, which then balloon out.
Example: aortic aneurysm.
When an aneurysm in the brain splits, you have a stroke...bleeding in the brain.

I've noticed that diverticulitis and strokes and aortic aneurysms go along with symptoms common with Lyme.

Disclaimer: This is based on my observations, so you may not be able to find research that confirms this.
But I think this will eventually be proved.

Editing to add:
Diverticulosis is the condition of having outpocketings of the colonic walls through weaknesses of muscle layers in the colon wall.

Diverticulitis is when they become infected and develop abscesses, which is why antibiotics are used.

I am at the moment recovering from diverticulitis. At the end of month they are scoping lover intestine. Right now I am on Cipro 500mg twice to help colon heal. It has helped greatly. I would be in horrible pain like before it I didn't have the cipro.

My doc only gave me doxy 100 twice a day. Sounds a little low to me

You should be taking both cipro and flagyl for diverticulitis. That is what is most commonly prescribed.

I would think it doesn't matter what causes/caused it, it definitely needs treatment.

I was in the ER once with this diagnosis, was given 3 antibiotics via IV and then pills to take at home, and florastor powder to add to food. My primary thought it was the stomach flu, but I was passing so much blood it freaked me out. The bleeding started after I took 2 doxy on an empty stomach.

Nothing to mess with. My dad's 2nd wife almost died from this and was laid up for 6 months.

If you disagree with your doctor's recommended abx, perhaps you can see a different doctor. If you mention parasites to anyone, much less a doctor, they may discount any of your concerns. Just my opinion.

Hope you feel better soon.

Randibear, did the humaworm make you constipated?

Carol... I used a VERY loose comparison! [Wink] I just meant that it is what it is.
