If the primary symptoms are lyme in the gastrointestinal tract (nausea, pain and constipation). How will I know when I am well?

I am taking oral antibiotics which also cause stomach issues. If I am supposed to treat two months past symptom free but the medicine also makes me sick, how will I know when to end?

man, i've got a ton of stomach problems. can't eat fat, severe stomach pain after eating, really excessive gas and flatulence...diahhrea or constipation...nausea, you name it.

thinking pancreatitus but no doctor will even go there.

put me on nexium which i think is causing more problems than it's worth.

right now on flagyl for diverticulitis.

i'm a wreck.

are you taking plenty of probiotics?

Are you on doxy? Taking it with food?

What is your bartonella status?

When I take oral zith without food, it upsets my stomach. Bottle says if this happens, take it with a little food.

Yeast can also cause stomach distress. Taking probiotics? Cutting down on carbs? Taking anything for anti-yeast?

I am taking nystatin and probiotics for yeast. I do not eat any fruits and gluten free. I have to eat some complex carbs because I can't keep on weight otherwise.

I just finished a three week pulse of flagyl. I started on rifampin last week for bartonella and have added ceftin.

I am supposed to cycle in minocycline once I am ramped to my full dosage of rifampin.

I noticed my stomach problems on Monday morning and my stomach is nauseous and aches after I eat.

The stomach problems were my first symptom so I am wondering if I am herxing?

It gets very confusing because there can be many sources for stomach problems.

I just would like to know how I am going to know when I am symptom free if antibiotics can mess the gut up?

I think you should discuss this very good question with your LLMD...

I have the same question myself!

I agree with Razzle.

If your stomach lining is damaged, you could try zinc carnosine and/ or L glutamine powder ( the latter in small amounts, read up about it first).

It took me YEARS to heal my gut after I was well from Lyme. Years.

A bigger problem for my gut than Lyme was, was parasites. And rebuilding bacteria with fermented foods (probiotics were not strong enough on their own). Killing fungus. Getting more stomach acid.

And it is hard to tell on abx. I did my last year of treatment without abx, so it was easier for me to tell whether it was gut trouble or side effects.
