I would bet it's the sugar content in the EmergenC. Whenever I eat sugar, I get canker sores.

No.
1) It's the ACID. Take vitamin C in capsules until the canker sore is resolved.
2) Fructose/sugar, too (as jwall says).
3) pH, too, is to be considered. With oral ulcers, the pH is often off kilter and acidic foods are not the direction to go.
Mostly, it's just that this is so concentrated and it can be a strong irritant to already irritated mouth tissue.
I have the same problem. I had taken to using HIBISCUS FLOWER TEA from powder instead for the high vitamin C content but, if I make that too strong, it can also bother my very troubled mouth tissue.
You might try diluting it much more or go with capsules - or vegetables with high C content such as red bell peppers, etc.
AVOID CITRUS as the acid is just too high during canker sore eruptions. There are other foods to avoid such as nuts, chocolate (even if no sugar), . . . (just Google). -

You could call the company on Monday and ask them. I can't search now but Google Advanced might provide that detail for you:
They have sodium bicarbonate in the ingredients. I figured that was to help buffer it.
I might try dilluting it more. I bought 30 packets and I don't want to stop after 3 lol

- Well, I would not try to continue with that now. It will detain the healing in your mouth. And it could make the sore spread even worse.
You could try to coat the canker sore and the whole mouth lining with some thick food oil first but that has not worked very well for me when I've tried this very thing.
Save it for another time. It will wait for you.
The company, though, may have advice on what else could be added.
Baking soda burns, too.
Calcium powder might do it but not sure if then than cancels the vitamin C benefit.
Broccoli has good vitamin C. Much better for your mouth right now. Good luck. -

Maybe just hold off until your mouth gets better...? I used to take these but I think other forms of vit. C are better. Interesting that this could cause chancres. I wouldn't have thought it was the acid. I don't think vit. C, in general, is good in direct contact with the teeth - in retrospect.
There's alot of bacteria & stuff that lives in the gums. Take a look at the article GiGi posted-
It's about root canals but I think alot of pathogens can live in the jaw & among the teeth. In my case, when I started taking anti-parasite herbs - the mouth sores got alot better. I had them for years...

The packets give me energy (b vitamins) and also seem to spark other forms of detox (sore/swollen lymph glands)
I guess I'll hold off. Gdamnit! More money down el drano.
I have so many supplements sitting around because I have bad reactions to 75% of them

You could also just try using a straw so that it doesn't affect your mouth ph as much. That is assuming you don't have any stomach acidity problems
