My doc has recently changed my protocol, which includes the switch from malarone to mepron, to combat babesia.

Any thoughts? Which one is better/stronger? Anyone have better experience/outcome with one vs. the other?

Thanks!

I started on Malarone (very low dose by inexperienced MD) but still had brain herx symptoms -- it was a very strange experience [Frown]

A few months later my new LLDNP switched me to Mepron and I didn't really feel anything from it. After I finished the Mepron,

I asked to go back on Malarone (at the correct and higher dosage)... definitely notice it working

I think it depends on the individual.... for me Malarone has affected me more (especially with Artemisinin!)

My understanding is that Mepron is stronger and Malarone has an additional medication in it that Mepron does not.

I too got great results when adding ART. After 6 months I am symptoms free from Babs - the last 3 months with ART made all the difference for me.

I did 4 months on Mepron and then switched over to Malarone - but yeah - everyone is different.

I had the exact reaction as fourwinds, only just the opposite because Mepron worked for me and Malarone did not.

I was on Mepron for about nine months and didn't think it was working and asked my LLMD to switch me to Malarone. I began to have old symptoms returning on Malarone and realized that the Mepron had made significant improvement in symptoms.

I do think it is dependent on the individual and whatever bug we're attacking.

I thought malarone was given when mepron fails. At least that's what my doc's doing (failed mepron/art).

Mepron almost killed me. Liver damage and neutraponia (low white blood count). I can't take mepron or malarone.

I have a severe case of Babs. For me, Malarone does nothing. Mepron works better for me.

Mepron worked better for me. Malarone does not.
