Hey Folks, I've been taking Reglan for a couple weeks to treat my severe gastroparesis and just discovered today that it greatly reduces the bioavailability of atovaquone, "mechanism unknown".
Drugs.com says that this is a moderate interaction and recommends avoiding concomitant treatment.
I wanted to give you all a heads up. If you are taking Malarone or Mepron, don't take Reglan with it. It might make your treatment ineffective!

Not only that, it can cause tardive dyskinesia. I began getting that about a year into treatment with it. It was (sadly) working very well.
Since I did not want permanent twitching in my face (!) I stopped it. One week after stopping the Reglan the twitching went away. Whew!
There is a similar drug from Canada called domperidone. I don't know about its interaction with mepron though.

Innnnteresting...I was taking reglan and domperidon during my Mepron treatment. i'll ask the Dr tomorrow.,

Reglan was helping me greatly.
With it I was able to eat 2-3meals a day and keep them down. Now with out it I can hardly eat one meal. I struggle with constant nausea. If I try to eat another meal I end up projectile vomiting 6-8hrs later. This is not fun. I'm so hungry all the time but unable to eat!

Reglan is a nasty drug. They play it off as the savior of all things GI. So many people have undesired side effects from this it would not surprise me if they took it off the market completely. The shame is the vast number it really seems to help.
This is yet another balancing act. Individuals must decide where / when the risks outweigh the benefits for them. Your doc should should always be part of that decision of course.
For all of those having trouble keeping food down, phenergan / promethazine might be worth a try. As with all meds, there are potential side effects but they do not seem as common or severe as with reglan.
It helped me greatly through a couple of appendix attacks and subsequent rupture. Long story but suffice it to say that it it weren't for phenergan I would not have been able to eat anything for a looooooong time.

Thank you Lymetoo and Average Joe. I have a few phenergan that I can try to see if they will help for awhile. That would be nice. Phenergan is really safe.

I had gastroparesis. Small frequent meals and digestive enzymes helped a lot. Also I made smoothies with coconut water, kefir and whey protein to add calories. Think of easily digested food-what you would give an infant. I read the side effects of reglan and it scared me!
