my take on it!

This drug is based on the claim that chronic Lyme is caused by leftover proteins from the borrelia bacteria. Basically the IDSA autoimmune side of things. ILADS doctors such as Dr. Horowitz and Dr. Burrascanno agree that the immune system(proteins) causes inflammation. But they disagree that this is the cause of all the symptoms of chronic Lyme and there's possibly a still underlying infection, possibly co-infections too...

Truthfully, I take that side of ILADS after reading the primate article! http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0029914 Especially since before I got really bad, I took three weeks amoxicillin by my family doctor, thinking it was just a sinus infection/common cold. Helped but did not cure me, 8-10 months later I developed the inflammation. I definitely believe this is a stronger bacteria then most.

But I would say it is possible that even though you have a underlying infection, this could still help people with the inflammation and allow them to live their lives better. For instance, taking antibiotics and this drug at the same time for pain and a persistent infection. I honestly think this could help me, I've been on eight months of antibiotics and inflammation has not gone away. It has actually gotten worse with antibiotic treatment, I went into my LLMD with just burning wrists, now have burning knees, hands, fingers and ankles. And things haven't gotten better with the inflammation!

On the other hand will this drug lower our immune system and could possibly make things worse? I think this is all up in the air... And what about the side effects?

Could be good for people who've had Lyme for year or two. But someone who's had Lyme disease for 5+ years, all that time allowing for the bacteria to embed...

A lot of doctors believe that chronic Lyme is nature's mistake. I honestly think that we make more mistakes than nature does.

My birthday was yesterday, so you probably know what I'm wishing for! Let's all hope for the best with this drug! Make sure everyone keeps updated about the drug by making posts!!!
