I need some help quick. I have been on Rocephin IV since July, working up from 1/4 gram to 1.5 grams due to an allergy I have to it and the LLMD has been trying to desensitize me slowly. So far it has been working; and my dose was moved up to 1.5 grams last Monday, a little over a week ago.

The day before yesterday, the drip was very fast and I began to get itchy and scratchy eyes, nose burning, slight throat itching almost immediately. This lasted a few hours after the infusion.

Yesterday the drip was slower and I felt no itching. This morning after my shower and I saw what looked like a brownish/purplish bruise on my inner forearm. I KNOW it was not there yesterday because I held out both arms for a decision on which arm to infuse.

When I touched the 'bruise', I noticed it moved and initially thought it was just a smudge. I took the towel and rubbed it and my skin peeled right off!!! and now it looks like a raw burn area.

Has anyone had this happen? Is this an allergic reaction? Help! It would be terrible if it is because this treatment is really helping me.

Yikes! That is scary! Is it possible some of the Rocephin contacted the skin instead going into the vein, causing something chemical-burn like?

You can choose which arm to use? Do you not have a picc for this? I was going ask if maybe the picc line cracked and was leaking or something.

I hope you have gotten a hold of your Dr. to discuss this by now!

I do not have a picc for this. I am infused every day because it has been pretty much on a day to day basis because of my allergy.

My dose has been lowered back down to 1 gram for now and I have had no problems with that so far.

I have not had any answers on what this 'blister' on my arm could have been from. It is still trying to heal.
