Hey nonna, I've taken Cipro before. What do you mean by "creepies" from it? I didn't have any problems. It was a good help.

I've never taken seroquel. It sounds like you are having a terrible time with sleep right now. If you've already tried several other meds and supplements that have not worked, it sounds like your doctor is thinking outside of the box to try to help you. I would go ahead and try it. I know that it does help people for various other disorders.

My daughter took Seroquel for sleep. She was desperate, had not slept for weeks.

HOWEVER, it took us a long time to realize that it was contributing to her rapid weight gain and voracious appetite. We also believe she was sleep eating.

It was hard to get off. I don't think we would use it again. It's a psychotropic drug.

Rozerem was good. She now takes a bunch of over the counter stuff.

nonna-I've been on seroquel for over 5 years now for sleep, it definitely gives you a very deep sleep.

I'm on 50mg, and yes it is hard to come off of, there was once I didn't take it for two days and the palms and soles of my feet were so itchy, I had to take one in the middle of the day.

Also as someone else said it does increase your appetite, on the other hand , if it wasn't for this med, I would not get the much needed need sleep.

Stuff works great for insomnia/lack of sleep. Very powerful stuff. I would suggest splitting the dose and may even splitting into 1/4 pieces.

I was taking 25 mg of seroquel and while it knocked me out I was still waking up early. They upped it to 50 mg extended release. The couple times I have tried it, it really knocked me out and I stayed asleep.

Seroquel is definitely potent. 4 times I have mistakenly taken my pm pills instead of my am and I can barely function.

wow, thanks....doc said to try 1/2 , but I tried one more time at 25mg, one pill..

I did that because I called a pharmacy and she said it wouldn't mess my brain up( not that it's not , now) [loco]
She said lot's of docs are starting to use it ,off label.

The 2 pages of warnings just made me want to check that it wouldn't make thing's worse and there was some kind of warning about Cipro when taking it.

So I tried it last night and couldn't sleep,,go figure.

finally took another half, but barley remember sipping some water and eating a few bites of a granola bar.....

Sammy., I think Cipro is helping some with the bug, but it agitates me//or that feeling is coming from killing some of those little buggers.

Die baby , Die..I think I'll go take another one.....kidding [Roll Eyes]

by the way is Rozeram, script?? Is it a mind drug? hanging onto as much brain as I can,,

Seroquel and weight,,,,???? That's a bummer...

after that 23 lbs jumped on my body from no where in March/April...Still think it might be Mepron...Or I was told I'm swelling, like ankles and people see it in face...Not fat , puffy...

Was told sleep was first//most important...

Isn't there something like Caprylic that helps with cravings?/

I'm used to so many day's when we are just trying to get a Aunty Lynn type drink in me to take pills, or if to rough of a day , Ensure...

Seem's like nothing is consistant with this illness, but always something hitting...

Bye the way has anybody caught onto the ... yet?

[lol]

It's just something that stuck in my mind...
The triplets loved the movie

Last time I saw them,, while here, must have seen movie 15 times...

easier than etc., etc., etc,

Lord if this is entertainment for me now I can't imagine what it would be if I didn't have meds.

I've taken Seroquel for years...cannot sleep without it. I even have to take Temazapan also to fall asleep. I have tried every sleep med over the years...was even hypnotized a dozen times.

I take 100 mg 3 hrs.
before I can sleep. I have no appetite. Doc says he has many patients who take much higher doses. He did say that Lamictal can cause weight gain. I am slowlt losing th weight I gained suddenly when I got sick.

funny Sammy... guess who didn't get any rem sleep/or any sleep last night

I took one, talked to grandkids, must have waited to long, about 1/2 hour.

tried to relax ,think good thoughts, yet I tried another half...nothing

2 hours later My brain feels wired, I'm hunting the house at 6 for something to calm me down..

farraday, what is Temazapan and what's it for if you used it off label?
What about Lamictal?

who takes it and doesn't get weird , brain surface dreams?????

Maybe be add melatonin?

I shift my meds and suppliments around for sleep as I build up a tolerance to them otherwise.

Right now a mixture of 3/4 of an Ambien tablet, Kavinase, and Melotonin seems to do the trick.

The Kavinase really helped me sleep longer, but I'm groggy when I wake up. It's worth it just to get 6 solid hours of shut eye.

I had the creepy crawlies.... mostly in the begining of taking the cipro... it let off as I began to get use to the cipro. I had a lot of other side-effects or herx not sure reactions as well.

If i stop or increase the dose...... I go haywire. So.... Cipro is doing something. I am just on a maintenance dose at this point. Currently seeking a new Dr, as mine is no longer convinced it is just Lyme that I am dealing with.

However, because I get worse when I stop cipro... He didn't drop me cold turkey. Gave me refills for the cipro. 500mg once a day.

I take xanax for sleep issues, as well as melatonin.

Goood luck nonna

monster ,I tried the kavanase PM and had groggy feeling.

then read the back and it has 5-HTTP sp? which has tryptophan sp? that i can't seem to take ///
as if puts me in seratonin syndrome start or some goofy thing

need to get melatonin to go with this,,

Sammy , I'll try....doc said sleep is first priority,,PERIOD

It'S so frustrating ,, a few years back I could drink hot milk with a touch of that vanilla coffee syrup, eat 6-9 pecans and a string cheese bite...........sleep for at least 5 hours with a clear wake-up

OK .So I took the pill, have a back-up on headboard ....this time I added a good quality, calcium, mag, d3 and something? supplement.

Does anybody have to use ear plugs even with meds?

My daughter tried all of the OTC combos. Couldn't sleep. We were referred to a LL psychiatrist for help when she was first diagnosed at age 16.

Before Lyme and Co I was not one to use meds of any kind unless there were no other options. That's all changed now.

Just the seroquel didn't work. She takes the following combo in low doses for everything: seroquel, melatonin, trazadone and topamax. She also takes Lyrica at bedtime. She sleeps 10 hours a night.

She's gained 20 pounds, the last 10 extra. Being that she's only 18 that really bothers her. I was scared to death to put her on these meds as they are very powerful and her brain is still developing. However, without sleep her body can't heal.

She finally started IV last month and is making rapid improvements. Once the Lyme and Co is under control we will slowly taper her off the meds. We are hopeful that she will be able to sleep on her own.

I absolutely hate it that she is on so many meds but find they are necessary. Best wishes for healing sleep!

I was given 25 mg tablets which I cut into 1/4's. It knocked me out but I was always very tired. I became dependent upon it. I was exhausted all the time - very drugged hangovers from it. Finally I quit using it.

What is causing the insomnia? I would address that rather than trying to force yourself into a coma that does not give you the rest you need.

The two biggest culprits are bartonella and protomyxzoa. Try treating those two infections and see if your sleep improves in a month or two.

Two of the best herbs I have found for helping me sleep are Jujube seeds and corydalis root. Jujube seeds are very cheap and easy to find. Both herbs are in Zhang's Herbsom but it is extremely expensive - so try jujube first.

It would be much safer to use Ambien and trazodone for sleep.

Posted by gridmonster (Member # 19280) on :

I have to agree with Lymetoo. Ambien seems to be a safer product. I know that the Marines actually use it for their combat pilots who have to sleep days and fly nights.

Try cutting an Ambien in half and taking it with 5mg of melatonin. That should allow for sleep but eliminate the morning groggies.

Believe it or not, ATP Fuel, which is pretty expensive, put my sleep patterns in order. I only used it for 2 weeks, as I just cannot afford it right now.

ATP Fuel is given for energy, but it also puts your adrenals in order, so in my case I fell asleep on time and awoke feeling good. WISH I could afford more of it. Plan on spending 180 / month for 2 months.

I was using Melatonin, and it was great help falling asleep, but I'd wake up after 5 hours and couldn't get back to sleep.

Also, Cipro has been pretty good for me. It is generally better tolerated than the others in its family.

ATP Fuel is an excellent product, and will get to the root of your problem, rather than knocking you out.

Ambien made me sleep walk. Lunesta didn't keep me asleep all night. I tried lamictal and had a psychotic night.

Tried a few other seizure drugs before finding Klonopin worked but I still need to use sublingual melatonin to get to sleep. The Klonopin keeps me asleep all night.

Once you get the sleep drugs where they work all the time, you will see a difference in how you feel. It makes a huge difference.

I am doing very well with cipro and so is my husband.

Thank you

I tried Ambien and go to sleep, maybe, for that first hour and the second part doesn't kick in..

I really. really don't want brain trouble /

I actually did try Trazadone with an Ambien...got the every 45 minutes to an hour sleep wake cycle for a few hours.

Cipro seems to be getting better

Some times I wonder if it's the pain getting to me or breathing issues.
A year ago I was sleeping hours at a time put was sicker...

Really need energy to adjust this townhouse furniture, phones, lights etc..Some of that is not helping

still not getting what I need.

.I don't want to take to much.1 then 2 hours later a half
Rozeram was mentioned earlier. anybody on that?

Pharmacy suggested that over oter.

the trazadone makes me dry and I'm having that sore throat and always thirsty thing going on for two months now.

I tried melatonin in the past,,,is there better brands?

when I do get sleep//half the day is gone or more

my mind is wandering all over the place

It was much calmer at night 3-4 months ago..
this just makes me feel like such an oddball.

what works for so many and I have to fuss.

.I tried other combo again.
I also need to make sure whatever doesn't affect breathing ..

At one point I used Natrol melatonin timed release AND Source naturals sublingual melatonin. One got me to sleep the other timed release melatonin helped me stay asleep. Now I don't need the timed realease anymore.

Rozarem has helped others so you might want to try it. Surprised your LLMD hasn't mentioned Klonopin. It is used by many to sleep at night.

It took me a long time to get the sleep meds right. Keep trying, sooner or later, you will hit the right ones.

Posted by nonna05 (Member # 33557) on :

thank you...any other ideas,,, is Rozeram a lot safer.

I tried couple times then last 2 days in a major fog all day //off and on sleep

Posted by nonna05 (Member # 33557) on :

last 2 days back to it not kicking in or I'm not shutting down soon enough.
Just saw there is the ambien cr..that is supposed to kick in an hour after first part does.
My ambien is the regular kind, from a ways back..

still wondering about how these affect breathing etc..

nothing,nada,zip and it's 7 am //started at 10:30 or so

seraquil,5mg valium,
natural drops .plus 3 calcium/mag/D3 plus capsules

maybe I'll try a little Benadryl to see if I can get a couple hours.

I was tired but wired the whole time
I've got to figure something out

now if I sleep I'll be out of it all day a loose another one/

is Rozarem like synthetic melatonin?

Posted by faithful777 (Member # 22872) on :

Rozarem is supposed to be a lot stronger than melatonin but similar to it, so I have been told. I hope you are emailing your LLMD and sharing what is going on.

I was wired like that a year ago and am a lot better now. Your LLMD can help you find the right mixture of meds to help you sleep as long as you keep telling them what is going on.

probably take an hour to decipher my note
Thank you

what is ATP??
I spent half the afternoon trying to calm down and lower the twitches etc....

tonight,I for sure won't use Seraquil

maybe ambien and low dose trazadone,,,,see if TuTu's remedy will help...

but it's almost 1 so not off to a good start

lunesta and here I am [shake]

Posted by faithful777 (Member # 22872) on :

Some of the seizure drugs just don't agree with some people. Lunesta used to help me then all of a sudden, it stopped working.

Any chance you have a holistic or integrative doctor to see locally that might be able to try some different solutions to help you sleep?

I am with tutu , ambien and trazadone are safer , and eventually after you get a sleep pattern, you will be able to get off ambien and stay on a low dose of trazadaone - cheap and safe . It can break the cycle of insomnia . Worked well for me and I was able to get off the addictive meds after I began sleeping more normally . It also helped my outlook mentally and did not make me fat .

Posted by annxyzz (Member # 20404) on :

Cipro , be careful it caused severe tendonitis. I would advise anyone to take magnesium citrate 3 caps at bedtime to prevent tendon problems .

Posted by TF (Member # 14183) on :

Trazadone broke the cycle of insomnia twice for me years ago.

I had two times in which some illness (like a severe cold where I couldn't breathe and had to try to sleep sitting up, breathing through my mouth) caused terrible insomnia for a long time.

I was prescribed trazadone. I didn't feel like I got "real" sleep on it, but a sort of hypnotic state. Nevertheless, eventually I was again able to sleep, thanks to this med. Then, I just stopped the med.

Hang in there, nonna. Don't give up. Things will change. Just keep doing the right thing. It took time in both of the instances I suffered.

horrible day, couldn't eat, drink or move much.
Didn't get night sleep , but so out of it today

I felt like I could fade away..I kept getting any kind of sleep, hour or day dream , felt so horrible sick,,

does tidamax matter on timing? The only thing I could do was get ABX in once, bathroom twice....

another day of my life just past right by....

What can you do to help the really bad times?//

Posted by nonna05 (Member # 33557) on :

Well Lunesta and half an Amdien, here I am glaring into a computer that shouldn't even be on my bed.....

TF did you stay with one dose on Trazadone or work up dose then back down.

My body is on Rep. of Georgia time, /I'm just not there [Frown]

All I needed was one pill each night.

Seroquel works great for me. I've been taking it for years. At one point I was taking 150 mg a night with 30 mg Temazepam alternating with 10 mg Valium. Now I'm down to just 100 mg Seroquel and no benzos, thanks to 10 months of IV Rocephin.

Much better than Ambien which causes all kinds of strange sleep stuff and is a hypnotic. I hope to continue to go down on it as I continue to improve on IV, hopefully. I'm so glad and amazed not to need the Benzos after years and years of severe sleep issues.

I prefer Seroquel to benzos, etc...it's not addictive and a good sleep aide.

well i was asleep all day with a few interruptions.

I can't tell if it's my thinking/weird

dreams/when I'm taking the abx's or one of the

supplements.

I tried 1/2 seraquel 1/2 ambien at 12 or 1 am

. It's like the meds kick in about the time it should stop.

I also am taking the ABX at night ..I stil wonder about cipro..

I know it /flyer said take without food .
many said not to take do it without food.

so is it razzing me? am I getting correct dose cause with food
and my left side of heart or breast flutters shortly after..laying on left side I swear you could feel it from outside.

so zith and cipro mepron, pulse Tid

any idea's?? timing on meds, something different to sleep.

Now I've had all those hours of day, interupted
sleep. I'm still tired ,wired

could hormones be doing some of this?

My nose has that resistant staph again... so
I'm stuff a lot.

concerns about not enough air. and bottom of legs acting up again, squeezing, crampish, dull pain.

I'm a confused mess on this. AGAIN
