I had to switch from oral abx to I.v. Abx because I had nausea that caused me to throw up my abx often. I thought that switching to I.v. Would not change the nausea, but just would ensure that my body was absorbing the abx. But I've been on I.v. For a week now, and have not vomited at all, and no nausea. So I do t know what to make of this. I had nausea before starting abx, and gastrodoc couldn't figure out why. I started diflucan with oral abx and am on it now still. Wondering if it's yeast, but wouldn't I still have yeast even with I.v.?

Yes, you would still get yeast from IV abx, but it's good you are on the Diflucan.

IV antibiotics are administered directly into the bloodstream where they can be distributed throughout the body and absorbed into all the tissues. That includes the stomach and GI tract.
IV antibiotics kill good bacteria just like oral antibiotics. Because they kill off the good bacteria, they can also cause opportunistic overgrowth of organisms like yeast and c.diff.
Maybe your GI tract feels better because the infection is finally being addressed and being treated properly.

Ive only been on the I.v. For a week now, and I immediately felt better. I doubt that it got rid of any infection in my gi tract in a week. So if it's not yeast, perhaps the nausea was a side effect of the oral antibiotics. Does anyone get nauseous as a side effect from taking abx orally?

If you are on the right antibiotic you can start feeling much better within days. Trust me, this has happened to me many times now. Certain meds just start working right away. All of these infections make you feel terribly ill but they don't all make you herx.
Any antbiotic could make you nauseous IV or oral so you may have been experiencing that as a side effect. Nausea is a miserable feeling so I hope for you that it will not return.

It is rocephin. I am glad that I am feeling better but I am afraid after the month is up, I will not have many options.
