Just got a call from a local TV station -- WDBJ7 in Roanoke, VA. They had heard about the 10 year old from either Ohio or Kentucky -- not sure which it is -- that is having her parents bring her tomorrow to pray for Steve.

I will get my 5 minutes of fame -- meeting the TV people and the little girl at the hospital tomorrow morning.

And I got a call out of the blue that is leading me to have an outside lab test done that if it is positive will really have the docs spinning in circles. Don't want to say anymore about it now, but just keep praying.

Oh gosh, when I read this I burst into tears.

Write down your key points for tomorrow morning and study them as you have your coffee. And give that sweet girl a great big hug. Can't help but wonder what the back story is.

Bea, for you to get a call out of the blue like that tells me that you surely ARE moving mountains.

Just continue being strong and amazing at what you do. Everyone here is backing you up, and that's quite a force to be reckoned with. When Steve is well enough and you can finally relax, you two should do something very special for yourselves.

Still praying for the saints to intercede on Steve's behalf. And you might not be Catholic, but it doesn't matter. My Jewish friend had prayers said at her synagogue for my family. We ultimately all pray to the same God. We just take different paths to Him.

Looking forward to hearing more about tomorrow morning and about that lab test.

Excellent news.

And a big "Wow! THANK YOU!!" to the young girl for her compassion and determination and to her parents for respecting her desire to help. Is she a Lyme patient herself?

Miracles moving mountains indeed!!

Go Bea!!

A re-post-

Rumigirl, thanks for continuing to emphasizing the need for Bea to retain counsel.

These doctors must absolutely do what is necessary to save his life instead of even remotely suggesting that she "pull the plug." I was sickened and disgusted when I read that.

I don't have a recommendation, but I came across this site when I googled. It would be worth a phone call to see if they could help:

Unreal! God is Great! And Steve has a role to play in the bigger picture of lyme disease. Bea, I haven't been able to post because my IP was banned, but I've been wanting to send you my support and tell you I've been praying for Steve everyday.

While Bea and Steve are from Martinsville, he is in the hospital in Roanoke, which is a larger city and probably has better and more attorneys.

Posted by beaches (Member # 38251) on :

After going through my google results I'm not so sure about that.

Posted by Rumigirl (Member # 15091) on :

Bea, as you can see there is the thread in Medical and also the thread in General (unfortunate that it is in two places).

I posted in the thread in General about some sleuthing I did for you on Medical lawyers in Roanoke. But I also sent it in an email to your yahoo address. The url came out better for some reason in the email. Please check it. You need all the help you can get!

Wow, this is great news! If you follow it up with a lawyer to boot, you may finally get the drs to do what is necessary. Please don't neglect getting a top lawyer pronto. Figure out about paying for it later.

Bea,

God is working on Steve's behalf.

Thank you, Lord, for hearing our cries for help.

I am so thankful for your wisdom and strength, the compassionate little girl praying for Steve and the resulting news coverage, and the outside lab test.

I will continue to pray for Steve, you and the medical team.

May God give you all that you need to get through the news interview and all the challenges that you and Steve face.

Never lose hope. We know that God can do far and above anything that we can do.

Yes, the 10 year old girl also has lyme disease.

Came to the computer lab to pass the time while I am waiting for the reporter.

Steve is still holding on, but oxygen levels are not improved from yesterday.

The hospital is very anti-supplement. They did have him on a special formula for the tube feeding -- had no idea there was even a special formula for ARDS and lung injuries. Formula has been switched to one with a higher fat content at my request to help with mepron absorption.

Got to go for now.

Just in case Steve had Lactated Ringers IV fluid.
This was just reported.
ISSUE: FDA and Hospira announced it is initiating a voluntary user-level recall of one lot of Lactated Ringers and 5% Dextrose Injection, USP, 1000 mL, Flexible Container, NDC 0409-7929-09. This action is due to one confirmed customer report where a leak was identified in the primary container between the cobra cap and fill-tube seal and a spore-like structured particulate, consistent with mold, was noted in the solution.

When a primary container within an overwrap has a leak, there is an open pathway for contamination of the fluid. The overwrap is not sterile, and any fluid which may have leaked out may become trapped within the overwrap and has the potential to be reintroduced into the primary container. If contaminated solution is used on a patient, critical patient harm may result. Injections of mold could potentially lead to septicemia (blood stream infections), which in a worst-case scenario may have the potential to progress to septic shock, which may be life threatening. Signs and symptoms could include injection site reactions, fever, shortness of breath, fast heart rate and feeling generally ill with nausea and vomiting.

BACKGROUND: The impacted product is Lactated Ringers and 5% Dextrose Injection, USP, 1000 mL; NDC #0409-7929-09 Batch# 12-160-JT* Expiration Date 1DEC2013. Hospira has not received reports of any adverse events associated with this issue for this lot, and has not identified any quality issues with retention samples for this lot. This recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure.

Psalm 6:8
Away from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.

Psalm 6:9
The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.

Bea, I found the thread and steve's current story late... But I am checking and keeping you both in my thoughts now. I am in awe of your strength and positiveness. Steve is very lucky to have you as his soulmate and voice. Hang in there.

This is a link to a YouTube channel which has been set up. It contains videos of Steve Seibert's blood slides.

Bea wants as many people to have access to these as possible with the hope that someone out there will be able to help with identification.

Steve has received positive blood tests on Babesia in the past; however, the hospital lab at Roanoake Memorial Hospital has been unable to verify these findings.

At the moment, the doctors have told Bea that the cause of Steve's ARDS and lung failure is unknown.

If anyone knows of someone or some place that might be able to help, please contact Bea at [email protected]

Now that this thread is in two places and the fact I have lyme brain, could anyone summarize for me what the hospital is doing or not doing that would give her a legal case?

Thanks.

I am so proud of that brave little girl and of the Lyme community. I am tearing up right now.

God is absolutely moving mountains to bring Steve through this. He is not finished with Steve yet...I am convinced of that.

I hope you get clarification very soon regarding specific infection(s).

However, I'm very concerned that the hospital may not be paying attention to liver and kidney support.

Regardless of the infection, toxicity can be nearly as big of a problem.

Regardless of the medicines used, they can't stand the best chance if the liver and kidneys aren't supported under stress.

From a previous note. Just want to be sure you see this:

-
I second Rumigirl's suggestion to explore:

glutathione IV

Especially if he's been or is being given acetaminophen as it's been shown (just this past year) that can cause lung damage since it blocks glutathione production & management in the liver.

Because God is only good,
Because God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow,
Because God promised to never leave or forsake those who love Him,
Because God hears prayer,
Because God promised to answer all prayers,
Because God repeatedly asks us to trust Him,
Because the Lord still does miracles,
Because God is holy and all-knowing,
We can come to His throne with confidence that He is in control of every aspect of Steve and Bea's ordeal.
Thank-you Lord, for this privledge of praying for Steve and Bea with the assurance that all will be well because You have overcome the world.

Amen

Note For Bea:

Bea, just wanted to remind you that there are three active threads going on yours and Steve's behalf at the moment. This thread, a thread in General Support and a thread about Microscopy Video/Slide help here in the Medical section.

The thread asking for help with the Microscopy interpretations on the YouTube channel is below. The title of that thread does not mention your name or Steve's -- so I was unsure whether you'd see it, given how hectic things are for you.

Sorry for all this confusion. The situation was beyond our control.

I pray that the light shining on this situation grows brighter and brighter.... to capture the full attention of all those surrounding this hospital (and beyond) so that they may learn the truth and grow in their knowledge of all facets of this disease so that they may finally be better able to help their patients.

Bea, God is using you and Steve as tools to help further this cause. We hope you gain strength from the support and love from all of us.

lax mom, thank you so much for posting this link!

Have not seen the full interview myself yet. The station kept the football game and did not do a 6:00 newscast -- Have been told the full interview may be on the 11:00 news but that is not 100% definite.

LymeEd -- The hospital toxicologist reviewed all Steve's meds (was still on high dose lariam) and all nutritional supplements -- I was told that nothing was found that would present as an acute toxic lung issue -- plus the brocnchoscopy biopsy did not indicate that either.

Blinkie, why do you think that -- just curious for my own self. And would that test be via an ultrasound?

Bea, what about the Babesia???

And how did the consult with the hematologist go?

Today I pray that Bea can find comfort in the promises of the Lord...that even though we don't understand why these things are happening...that she/we can trust with quiet confindence that the Lord loves Steve and Bea completely...they are the apple of His eye and He knows all of their days starting before they were even born.

Praying that the Lord would engrave this truth on Bea's heart that she can go through her day with expectation that all is well because the Lord is with her.

Thankyou Lord for your goodness that we can neither earn nor deserve...but You give freely to those who love You.
Amen
