In trying to get yeast under control, I decided to try to OTC RePhresh to bring down vaginal pH, per gynecologist recommendation.

When I used it, I saw the product is a clear gel, but the next day, I had a lot of white, lumpy discharge - so my question is, is that the product changing form once its used, or is the yeast really that bad, and only is discharged like that when I use the RePhresh? Usually when I have discharge its not lumpy like that, more fluid-like.

Sorry for the TMI, thanks in advance for input!

I'm not sure. But if you have an alkaline pH it is more likely BV from my understanding. Have you tested to make sure it's fungal and not bacterial? Could be both. If it's bacterial, they'll prescribe flagyl so WATCH OUT. It may just be that the discharge latches to the gel and that's what's coming out. If it's an intense itch you absolutely cannot stand, it's probably fungal. If it's a more mild, tolerable itch it's probably bacterial. Have you check to see which it is?

A high ph is BV, yeast does not cause a high pH-it actually grows quite well in a normal pH (4-4.5)

Rephresh causes those white clumps-there is something in the instructions where it talks about it. Something like it makes old cells shed-the white stuff should decrease as you continue to use it.

Talk about TM1!

Thanks ladies! Yeah, its probably more likely BV then... I haven't been tested for a while, last time I was they just said it was a mixed bag of stuff and recommended the RePhresh and diflucan. I don't remember seeing about the white stuff in the packaging, good to know!
