Looking up amantidine made me wonder if I could be possibly be setting myself up for never being able to get off drugs that work on dopamine and what dangers are there? I am feeling ok. My pain seems to be mostly under control (amantidine seems to have really helped with that and energy) But when I tried to switch from amantidine to plaquinil I crashed pretty hard and was also dizzy. I don't know if it was a reaction to the plaquinil or the amantidine withdrawal but I stopped the plaquinil and went back to amantidine and have been ok.

Anyway... I take a small dose of Cymbalta, I also take amantidine twice a day, and ambien almost every night. And I take tramadol as needed, usually just once a day and sometimes I forget which to me is a good sign cause it means I don't need it. But if I forget 2 days in a row I feel it.

So is Cymbalta, Amantidine, Ambien and Tramadol too much to be taking?

As always , thanks for your opinions.

I don't know if it is too much, but I have had these same thoughts.

I often wonder if I should get my hormones tested, but don't because I don't want more drugs.

I would like to think that near the end of treatment, part of the end is weaning off the other things

(which means sleep help for me, and a low dose antidepressant.)

I guess I'm fortunate I don't need regular meds for pain.
But the sleep, oh the sleep, if I could get that fixed....

I don't consider natural hormone restoration to be 'drugs' in the same way that the other meds. are. In fact, I'm hoping to come off my AD/sleep medication etc. once I've got my hormones optimized.

Q: So is Cymbalta, Amantidine, Ambien and Tramadol too much to be taking?

IMO, absolutely too many chemicals for the liver, kidneys, and neuro cells to manage. That adds up to a toxic load.

I have experience (terrible experiences) with the latter three of those - and with most others in their categories. I am glad to know that is all in the past and I'll never take any of them again, they caused me so much trouble.

Amantidine was wonderful at first. Took it to help stop falling and it worked for a while. Until it stopped cold. Falling was much worse then.

There are other options that are safer for the body and actually restorative rather than masking.

Look to the more natural solutions here (though not all are):

my llmd gave me five abx at one time plus nystatin. almost killed me...

and then i was already on bp meds and elavil for sleep.

then he also wanted me to take zocor for high cholesterol.

it was just too much. i crashed major...

i stopped it all and am doing cowden. it's not a race but slow and steady. it can be hard to always have to take those tinctures but it's better than all those pills.

Thanks Keebler for the opinions and the links.

Keebler, did you have to ween off of the amandtidine? I take it to make the Biaxin work better... But I definitely noticed an energy boost which is good... But it was kind of too good. And I did crash when I tried to switch which worried me...

I'm kind of freaking out because I just counted my meds/supps after reading your post. I'm on 53 different meds/supps per day. Now I want to vomit.
