Of course, I don't have all the information... too darn tired to search for it.

I am hearing about a protocol where you take huge amounts of HCL with and activator of some kind. I have heard that some people are having good results.

Anyone try this?

google HCL with activator protocol, and the first site to come up is Lyme detox protocol and it gives the info I think you are looking for.

Yes I believe that is it. I'm wondering if anyone has tried it. I guess it's been around for a while. I had never heard of it.

I heard of it a long time ago and was curious about it. I take extra HCL with my food. One thing I noticed is that I think they are saying betaine is the activator.

Next time I order my HCL, I will order betaine HCL, instead of just HCL. I would have to read and study this further, to see what they are actually talking about.

I do know that we produce HCL naturally in the stomach and it is a natural bacteriocide and our first line of defense against bad bacteria from the food we eat.

Chronically ill people tend to have low HCL (hypochlorhydria) Adding extra HCL and digestive enzymes have helped me a lot.

TMG (trimethylglycine) is another form of Betain, and is helpful for detoxing.

It's been a few years since I did the Heidelberg test to determine HCL sufficiency. Google.
Dr. Jonathan Wright/Tahoma Clinic has written and lectured about this.

If HCL is deficient, usually some of the important minerals are also not being absorbed, and that becomes an overall problem.

If a mineral deficiency is present, KPU and toxic metals need to be ruled out.

Be careful with HCL - (a capsule can burn a hole in the tablecloth!)

Take care.

Betaine HCL nearly killed me, it's that hard on the stomach. I was told I needed more stomach acid but this was NOT the way for my body to go. Not at all. I tried it several different times, over time.

I believe that it could burn a hole in a tablecloth after my trials with it.

I'm studying about GREEN TEA lately and find that KUCHIKA TEA (aka: Twig Tea) is very good to balance stomach pH. It's a very enjoyable tea, lowest of all in caffeine.

However, I did very well with Berberine HCL (whew!).

In the past, I did exceedingly well with both DMG (dimethylglycine) and also with TMG (trimethylglycine)

Hubby tried this probably 6 or 7 years ago with Dr C in Missouri. He took betaine HCL for many years -- his Heidelberg test showed he was low in stomach acid.

Anyway he was never able to work up to the suggested dose of 15 capsules daily -- think he got to about half that dose. If I remember correctly at the time he was really sick and we stopped the protocol as we could not tell that it was helping after a few weeks.

In my opinion the reason the protocol might help is not because of the betaine specifically but because of the turmeric and other herbs in the protocol.

I know I have posted on this in the past, but not sure if those threads are still in the archives or not. No time to do a search right now.

Taking HCL with pepsin and a substantial meal along with it, has helped to heal me. I think it's key that enough food and water be ingested when taking HCL.

I guess, everyone is different and they have to do what feels right for them. I think sixgoofykids did well taking HCL also.

HCL was used in the days of Kellog in the sanitariums in the 20's as a complete healing regimen. If you are careful, it can help detox the body.

The activator, btw, is the wondrous Turmeric. Makes the HCL work tow or three times better.
