Hi everyone..first of all, I want to thank everyone for the supportive replies in my previous threads. I just returned a little while ago from a meeting with my GP and my LLMD...they were absolutely wonderful to me, and they told me the TPN is simply the only option for me right now. I will be on it for at least six weeks starting on Thursday and then we will reevaluate.

My LLMD in particular was really amazingly kind to me..I started to cry during our meeting and apologized to him for having failed him, and he took my face in his hands and told me to stop talking that way and that if he had a daughter he would want her to be like me and that he admires my strength. He is really great to me.

I am still really upset about having to go through this, but I was also really reassured by talking to my dear friend who means the world to me and who also happens to have lyme last night-he also thinks this is the right thing to do. I really hope this will be the beginning of a new and positive chapter in my journey to health. Thanks. Jess.

While you do that, you may have time to get this book and look over this site.

She was once where you are with the inability to tolerate food.

You may also want to get the film about GMO foods and how they can wreck the stomach. Then, when you start back on food - or add some along the way during the TPN treatment, you have a chance to heal the tissue.

The DVD I mentioned is detailed here, see post: GMO ROULETTE

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=029690;p=0

Excitotoxins; MSG; Aspartame; & "Natural" Flavors;

GMO foods that destroy the GI Tract; Gluten; Dairy.

The short YouTube video with a camera inside a stomach trying to digest Ramen Noodles is also eye opening.

We all need every advantage possible and when we know about how certain food "products" can literally take away our ability to absorb nutrition, the basic steps toward survival become clearer - for everyone one who eats.

UPLEDGER INSTITUTE - VISCERAL MANIPULATION

http://www.upledger.com/findApractitioner.asp

Find those trained in your area. Often, they are covered by insurance, too.

Not all who are trained in their cranial-sacral therapy are also trained in visceral therapy but all who are trained in the visceral tx are likely also trained in cranial sacral.

Their approach is very gentle and safe (no quick turns or twists of the neck or spine, which can damage those with lyme).

Cranial-sacral may help to restore function to stomach nerves.

Wonderful news! You will start feeling better FAST.

When I got IV nutrition it was AMAZING how much better I felt. It's almost immediate. It gave me a preview of what it's like to feel healthier again and gave me hope.

You WILL heal from this!

Certain herbs can encourage gastric emptying which is such a hurdle for those with gastroparesis.

ukcarry posted this a while back on this topic. If it sounds interested to you, a naturopathic doctor, acupuncturist or one of similar knowledge with herbs is best to first consult.

-by Subhuti Dharmananda, Ph.D.

Excerpt:

Kampo medicine is widely practiced in Japan, and is fully integrated into the modern health care system. Kampo is based on traditional Chinese medicine but adapted to Japanese culture. With only slight modifications, it has been adopted also in Taiwan and exported from Taiwan to the West.

This article presents a concise history of Kampo . . . a collection of certain traditional formulas came to dominate the system.

The basic texts of Chinese medicine, such as the Neijing Suwen and Lingshu, and the Materia Medica came to Japan during the 7th through 9th Centuries. . . .

THANK YOU everyone so much for your replies and encouragement. It means a lot to me. I am kind of excited to give my poor body a break and to gain some weight back...my ex boyfriend is all excited for me to regain my old shape [Smile] ....In all seriousness, this is a very tough thing for me but I am seeing it increasingly as a positive step, and the support is endlessly appreciated. Jess.

So happy to hear Jess! Alot of us were very worried about you and it great to hear you will be getting some help.

This is VERY positive.

When they gave me IV nutrition, it was when I was admitted to emergency because of malnutrition (yes, it got that bad).

You are TOTALLY doing the right thing. You'll be amazed at the fast improvement.

This is DEFINITELY temporary and a step to recovery.

We are all pulling for you! Remember it's just one step of the journey, and one day it will be all but a memory. I can understand it's a very hard thing to go through. Once you start to feel better you will undoubtedly know it was the best thing to do.

Fingers crossed!
