The HBOT is helping!!! I've done 4 treatments so far, I'll do a couple more after Thanksgiving.
I feel slightly less vertigo and dizziness when I am sitting up and I can walk much better. I am much grateful for that! If I am up too long and get tired then my symptoms get worse. So I have to be careful.
I still have to take my vertigo medicine (Antivert, Ativan, Zofran, Reglan) because the combo helps keep me from vomiting all the time. This has really helped keep me well hydrated and I've been able to eat normally again. Which is a miracle in itself!
My home PT and OT is a joke. They don't know how to do vestibular. They just thought that I needed balance and strengthening help. After multiple visits, OT still wants to "try to help", PT is willing to refer me to outpatient for the appropriate vestibular therapy.
That all has to wait for at least a week though.
Yesterday I went ahead with the spine stimulator trial procedure. (I know, you think I'm truly crazy) It was more painful than I expected. Thankfully the rep who programed my stimulator gave me the heads up that that was normal afterwards.
My best friend came over today to "watch me" post-op, she ended up staying all day, even after my mom came in the afternoon. So it was really nice to see her even though I was in pain.
It's kinda ironic to have a procedure to relieve pain that causes pain... Seems like that is life!
Anyways, they say that they procedure pain will get better after day 2 then I'll be able to start to play with the spine stimulator settings to see if and how much it really helps relieve my pain. Especially with normal daily and extra activity. So I'm excited.
I really want this to work because my back pain from all the fracture damage is so excruciating. It is not getting better and I'm not able to get any relief.
The trial will last until tuesday and then I'll have it removed.
So if you will, please pray the I won't have any complications from this. It makes me nervous having these electrodes implanted in my back. They have a few stitches holding them into my back where they come out of the skin and then they attach to longer external cords and a battery pack. All that is protecting me from germs is a few flimsy dressings. SCARY!!!
The risk of infection is my greatest fear because of my immune deficiency but this trial is the only way to know if the implant will help.
It also makes me nervous that the electrodes could migrate and I might not get good results of pain relief. Then the trial would be ineffective.
So please pray for me. That I will heal quickly from this procedure pain and the vertigo. That I will be able to fully test the trial stimulator to truly know if it will work for me.
That God will give me the guidance to help me make this decision to know if this will be a beneficial pain relief for me. And that he will please protect me from complications.

I'm so happy to hear that you are able to eat normally again, and that you are having less vertigo and dizziness when sitting up and can walk much better.

sammy, thanks so much for updating us. I am SO happy you are getting a little relief! Every lit bit helps. I am also happy you are able to eat normally.
I hope and pray the stimulator trial helps you tremendously with no complications. I pray that this vertigo leaves quickly and never returns. I also pray that you are on your way to much better days. The "normal" stuff with tick-borne diseases is quite enough, you don't need all of these extra complications.

Dear friends, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Tomorrow I'm scheduled to have the trial spine stimulator removed.
It's been an interesting experience, good overall. I think that it could potentially help reduce my pain both in daily life and with additional activity.
I'm so excited This is my hope, my first glimpse at true pain reduction since I woke with those fractures back in Feb.
So one step at a time. I need to have the trial removed and have the permanent stimulator scheduled to be placed. Please pray that all goes well with the removal and my recovery from that. I'm still in pain from the insertion, not sure if that is normal.
Still dealing with the vertigo, hoping it will disappear on it's own. Don't really want to deal with it!

sammy, I am so glad you have gotten some relief from the stimulator! Please make sure the doctor knows that you still have pain from the procedure.
I hope that the removal goes well today. Do you know when you will have the permanent one put in? I pray it goes well and that you get continued relief. I also pray the vertigo is gone soon.
