Has anyone had issues while taking Monodox 100mg -It's a generic form of Doxy. My daughter starting takinga bout 2 1/2 weeks ago... these past three days, she wakes up vomiting. It's not right after she take the pill either. She takes it at night, wakes up nauseaus? Anyone else?

Lyme can cause GERD. Try elevating the head of her bed. I take a Acid reliever before bed but I still vomit most mornings

Doxy is hard on the stomach. It causes nausea, upset stomach, reflux, etc. It should say this on the package insert.

Lyme doctors recommend taking doxy in the middle of a meal to avoid these unpleasant side effects. So, she should eat half a meal, take the pill, and then eat the other half.

Also, she should not lay down right away after taking the pill. I would wait at least 1/2 hour.

If you don't take doxy with food, it can really rip up the stomach. That was my experience.

I had the same issue the first 4 days I was on doxy...awful. Oatmeal was the only thing I could eat with doxy for the first 3 weeks.

Try drinking ginger tea (cut up fresh ginger in hot water)....for me, it eliminated the nausea.

This week, my LLMD told me to take Rhizinate 20 minutes before I take the doxy. It coats the stomach and so far, has really helped. I can now eat other food besides oatmeal with it. It tastes like black licorice, which I hate, but still worth it.

Good luck to her!

Take it in the MIDDLE of a good-sized MEAL. Do not lie down for an hour afterward.
