Hello,

My friend's husband, after seeing "Under Our Skin" recently, kind of saw himself in this disease. He has been sick off and on for several years and unable to find the reason, an avid hunter/outdoorsman. Familiar story.

Now they are interested in having him tested and I want to advise them in the best way. Finances are a problem and she says they probably can only do what's covered by insurance.

I still think Igenix is the best lab to be tested by, but cost may be a problem. I read a post a couple of days ago 75% discount offered by Igenix but I can't find it now. Could someone provide the link.

Some doctors have had patients do an initial test with LabCorp, I think, because that is normally covered by insurance. Not sure which test they get. But the doctor will be the one to determine this, and notice that there are eligibility requirements.

How about Medical Diagnostic Labs - not as good as Igenex but maybe better than Labcorp/Quest

People have gotten positive tests also from Stonybrook, which I think will also be covered by insurance.

Just make sure that wherever this person is tested, they understand the limitations of testing.

The Igenex test costs around $200, just so you'll know how much to expect.

Test #188 and 189 is the Western Blot.
