Above is an article about a Chinese herb that treats malaria and quiets th Th17 immune response without disrupting overall immune function. Has anyone used this?

Hello, You inspired me to look up this herb in the huge Chinese Materia Medica I have sitting here.

The latin name of this herb is Dichroa febrifuga Lour. It is indeed active against the parasites that cause malaria, but I would not recommend this to most people. In several places here it is described as "toxic". It induces vomiting easily.

There is a quote in this volume from "Grandfather Lei's Discussion of Herb Preparation" which says, " Do not allow old people or patients with long illness to take it - it is forbidden."

Under toxicity:
Dichroa Radix is toxic. Overdosage may cause poisoning. The symptoms appear about two hours after ingestion and include dizziness, heavy vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody stools......(on and on).....

My suggestion is to try other herbs that aren't so toxic. People with these infections are already weak.

Thanks for giving me the gift of learning about a new herb.
