I felt so awful the last hours it was impossible. But suddenly i felt better. I noticed that around 6-7am (could not sleep!) i suddenly feel better.

The hormones i take are also making a BIG difference. I think that the natural hormones aren't reaching the right levels but i feel better.

I bet its cortisol. Im also on thyroid meds for years.

The adrenals may be my biggest issue and i really really think that its impossible to feel so dead and suddenly better around the SAME times.

Maybe my latest problem indicate that i have too much or not enough cortisol. Maybe i surpressed them.

What do you think?

Nutmeg essential oil balances adrenal function...maybe that would help?

I suspect most of my probs are depleted adrenals too. I know I feel better on low doses of cortisol. Helps the fight or flight feeling, but takes a few days to kick in.

Wow Razzle, thanks for posting about the nutmeg! You are so smart (Keebler too--she knows a lot about the adrenals, but I'm too tired to find her post right now). [Smile]

If your adrenals are low, salt is another good natural aid...

People are terrified of salt because of mainstream doctors, but your adrenals NEED salt.

Low adrenal horomones are usually accompanied with low sodium.

So consuming sea salt can help your adrenal supplements work better [Smile]

droid: do you take hydrocortisone or Cortef?

I wonder what you are taking, and glad to hear that you are feeling better, too.

I have been on Armour Thyroid for quite awhile, and it has been helpful, but I still had low adrenal function. I tried many different herbs and supplments recommended to me by my doctors over the years. These helped, but not enough.

Now I've started low dose Cortef (Hydrocortisone) for a couple of months. It is helping me quite a lot. Overall, I have better energy which is more sustainable throughout the day. I'm able to do more in my daily life, like shop for groceries and cook in the same day, which for years I have not been able to do.

Also, handling stress better, thinking more clearly and more focused, able to do some housecleaning that's piled up, etc.

So, could you please explain what you mean by you feel dead, then suddenly better? Is it after the medication kicks in? Could you say what are you taking, in what dose, and how often?

Best wishes.

Genova Diagnostics Adrenocortex Stress Profile examines 4 saliva samples over a 24-hour period for levels of cortisol and DHEA.
here is a sample report

lostlyme: I had that test done awhile back.

My morning cortisol levels are too low and my noon and 4pm levels are too high.

(At least they were months ago...they are probably too low all day long now).

I too have similar issues. Since starting armour for thyroid and cortisol for low adrenals I have more energy and have clearer thinking. Also taking DHEA 25 mg per day. Really makes a difference for me.

i take them both-its easy to change the armour cuz the tesing helps me know...i started at 45 ix a day and now only ned 15

i had the adrenal test once and they told me it explained my insomnia. i began taking 30 1 x in morning but now i am down to 20

i cant say my insomnia is totally undercontrol. i cant control when i fall asleep...but when i do i get to rem sleep now and i didnt used to and i also sleep8-10 hrs usually...its just really hard to get to sleep sometimes

and i go thru stages where i just crash during the day-cannot stand...cannot stay awake. if i reall sleep i sometimes wake up in a short time and feel much better/ dr B says to sleep when you feel tired
