Out of thr blue I'm SO bloated at the end of the day. I've had Lyme and cos for at least 3 yrs and have been treatig since April. Never had any gastro sx. Also my tongue has been a little yucky lately.

What might this mean?? I'm worried it's candida. What do I do!?

Well....you can talk with your doctor and get his thoughts. Then....you might try avoiding a few things:

All sugar and processed foods

If that doesn't work, then try avoiding gluten: wheat, rye, barley and oats.

If you are better, but not well, then try avoiding dairy.

From there, if you aren't better you can talk with a dietitian about avoiding other allergenic foods. That is, if course, if the doctor hasn't found anything else wrong .....

Best, Timaca

My suggestion would be avoid gluten and dairy (if you haven't already). They are both horrible for lyme patients and certainly will either cause or worsen any stomach/bloating problems. If you are currently a dairy/gluten eater, try going off for ten days and see how much better you feel.

If you already ARE off both of them, then definitely look at your diet closely. Are you taking a GOOD probiotic?

A yucky tongue (white coating first thing in the morning) and bloating spell candida. Now, you need to call your lyme doctor for a prescription for diflucan.

You can't cheat on the anti-yeast diet while you are treating yeast or you will never get rid of it.

Read the Burrascano Guidelines write-up on yeast starting on page 34.

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

Once you have yeast, probiotics will not kill it. They just help to prevent it. So, you definitely need a prescription for diflucan.

You must cleanse your mouth at least once per day as Burrascano describes. Yeast starts in the mouth and, with every swallow, the yeast goes into the stomach and intestines. That's why you have the bloating.

It can get so bad that you are constantly bloated and can't fit into any clothes.

Now that I think about it, I had given up gluten and sugar completely. Very strict. hile I didn't feel better lyme, my gut was doing well. Then, I started losing a ton of weight so I added back some gluten -- a small muffin here and there, sandwiches, even a cookie now and then! And not this is happening! I guess I'll go back to the diet. Even if it's not helping my Lyme, I certainly don't need a gastro problem!

Bloating can be a build-up of toxins too. I experienced that just yesterday. Fortunately, I had an appointment with a Zyto practitioner, who said that my lymph was blocked and it was from a lack of drainage. She unblocked me using laser and I felt soooo much better. My fingers were puffy, my eyes were puffy and twitching, my stomach and face were puffy and my legs were tight from hypercoagulation.

She recommended rebounding and homeopathic drainage products like Pekana to get the lymph fluid moving, Also, to follow with a binder since I was expelling toxins. I've recently started using a PEMF mat, and am in the process of releasing stored toxins from my cells.

Check out the parasite threads! Consider that you might have an untreated parasite infestation as a lot of those that are chronically ill have. I along with some others are convinced this why so many are so ill and not getting well after yrs of abx.

I've been wondering this Gael. But I want to get through the treatment for cos and lyme first and see if it works. This is definitely on my list though of things to investigate. Are there any decent diagnositic tests??

The tests are as unreliable for parasites as they are for Lyme and co. I tested neg for yrs and was loaded with parasites.

You might find as I did that when I switched to antiparasitics and salt/c it seemed to go after the other infections as well.

MD's don't give enough Diflucan generally. You may need a couple of weeks, for instance. Or more. You can get liver checks to stay safe.

My daughter had severe, visible bloating and edema at the end of the day, for months. To the point that blood vessels burst and she had purple lines all over, again, only at the end of the day.

She had an endoscopy for GI problems and they found extensive yeast in her gut.

Diflucan, and (very important)cutting out gluten and dairy, got rid of the bloating, but it took a few months.

I agree with Pug7 about the longer term Diflucan/ systemic yeast-

Just to let you know how different we all are, I never needed a long course of Diflucan to get rid of yeast.

But, I was cleansing my mouth at least once per day while taking the diflucan. Very important.

If I caught the yeast right away, I needed a 3 day course of diflucan. When I was with a lyme doctor who didn't know how to diagnose a yeast infection, I suffered with the bloating and abdominal pain for 3 months before I figured out for myself it was yeast.

I believe I took diflucan for a week for that 3-month case. And, I had continual bloating. (But, it does get worse by end of the day.)

So, you don't know until you start taking the Diflucan how long you will need it. Everybody is different. (And, you have to eat absolutely no carbs or sugar or you will never clear it. That means no fruit also.)

Yeast will make you as sick as lyme.

Yes, I should say for me, believing I had long term yeast overgrowth before I even started antibiotics,

I felt I needed long term Diflucan, and have been taking it.
Have also went GF, high quality probiotics, no sugar diet.
But I do eat GF grains.
