Do those of you with lyme and white lesions on the brain know if they are fluid filled or if they are solid?
We just came from a Neurologist who was so arrogant.
He felt the two lesions my daughter has 1mm.4mm are due to concussions. She's 18 and had maybe three total over her lifetime.
He did not consider infections.
He gave me the impression theat they were not fluid filled, but I don't know.
That's why I am asking.

1 mm and 4 mm are very small. I make bracelets with seed beads that are only 4 mm in diameter. I thought injuries from concussions were larger, as the brain bounces against the skull and gets bruised.
Neurologists deal with patients who don't know anything about the brain, and I think they might take shortcuts to explain things, if they explain at all.
Well of course many of the patients don't know anything about the brain, that's why they hire the neurologist, for his expertise.
It was my impression that the "unidentified bright spots" that MRI's pick up are the aftermath of tiny strokes, and are fluid filled.
The fluid will eventually absorb, leaving an empty spot, and the brain tissue collapses in around it. After many years of this going on, it shows up as brain shrinkage.
It is very common for older people's brains to have shrunk significantly. Sometimes the docs will notice this when Xraying after an accident, while looking for evidence of a head injury.
I've had two MRI's done, nine years apart. I had several UBS's (unidentified bright spots) on each, but in different locations each time.
Docs see them so often that they didn't get too excited about mine, and I was told it may be related to the migraines.
I do remember one particularly severe migraine, during which I suddenly developed a numb spot on my upper lip. Since I didn't have any other stroke symptoms and I had children to take care of and supper to make, I didn't bother going to the doctor's. The numb spot improved over the next week or two, and I eventually got full feeling back.
Does your daughter have severe headaches or migraines?

Yes, she has headaches daily. The pain ranges from 4-7, with 7 being the worst.
She claims to have a migrane once a week. Maybe an hour long.
She's being treated for Lyme/Bart and PANDAS. She's 18.
I too have heard that migranes can cause these.
How can we rid ourselves of migranes?
Do you still get them?
If not, what was the ticket for you?

you my want to google a PFO of the heart very common and could be her hole pun intended problem don't dismiss this it is easy to test for it but must be right test no ekg or holter test can detect it you need a simple test known as a bubble study with a tee the frequent migraines are a big clue that it might be a hole in her heart please google it

i'm sure others will weigh in a well ....i ahve 2 spots as well...my neurologist said i had a somatic disorder....my LLMD said they were from lyme...i only had one migraine in my life nad never had a concussion.

I have 'white matter disease" also. Which could be an indicator of 15 according to the neurologist (mine was an arrogant jerk too), but he wasn't 'concerned'. He ignored my symptoms. It turns out I had gone from "Lyme" to "Neuro lyme". Migraines were all part of the deal, but i don't get them every day.

my radiologist said all the white (cant remember the words now) indicated lyme but could be other things
the neurol said it wasnt lyme cuz i had more than 2 weeks abx so it must be my high cholesterol
i hate neurols...i am looking for a new one now...but the pickins are slim

I had white matter lesions and have had 5 MRI-s in the past. My initial MRI discovered the lesions and these went away with antibiotic treatment. Since these lesions are present in disease, like depression and aging, docs not lymeliterate may attribute this to other problems. My own research says these are fluid filled and show up on the contrast MRI's. Try therapy with antibiotics and if possible get another MRI.
