Sort of hard to believe that people take all kinds of big pharma drugs but that they are not interested in a natural plant that helps with pain & depression...

Kratom works for pain, period. I'm sure big pharm will outlaw it because of it's effectiveness. It's already illegal in 2 states.
For those hooked on narcotics or living in chronic pain. Look into this plant and research it.

I find this topic very interesting. someone on a lyme forum recently brought kratom to my attention.
i do take pain meds and i like the idea of switching to something natural.
I would love to hear from other lyme patients who have used this.
I have mostly been concerned about possible side effects or sensitivities as lyme can make everything difficult.
Anyone taking this?

I am always researching into pain treatment for my son and have been reading about Kratom. I thought it would be good to bring up this old thread again hoping it might help more people.
Anyone have any personal experiences with this herb? I understand it helps in relieving pain, but does the pain go away temporarily or is it considerably reduced or even permanently alleviated after using it for an extended period of time?
Yes, I would also be interested in knowing about any experienced side effects (especially significant ones), etc. As always, your input is very much appreciated.

It doesn't treat the root cause of the pain. It makes it more bearable. It's pretty mild in small doses but if you take too much it can make you a bit nauseous. It wears off in a few hours or over night if you over do it.
Everyone reacts differently. You just have to try it to see if it's something that helps.
I haven't noticed any big side effects. It can make you a little constipated but I don't notice that any more. Some people may get stomach aches from it but I don't get that.
If you have chronic pain, it gives you a bit of a break from it. It's also very good for depression & anxiety.
Different varieties have different effects. It's best to try a sampler pack & see what helps.
I don't know about opiate addiction since that's not my issue.

It's incredible. The problem now is getting it. They are making it almost impossible to get by shutting vendors down state by state.....It's a form of coffee.
If you want to try a good sample, go to greenleafkratom.com & try their "red relief"
That's the go-to with very little side effects. Some people love it, some don't react much. But it definitely shouldn't be illegal.
Side effects are mild stomach ache or dizziness. But no worse than Advil or tylenol's side effects.

They make it hard for companies to process credit card payments over the internet who sell kratom. There have been million dollar shipments seized by the FDA as well as smaller ones even though it's not illegal.
I've seen companies that sell herbs being harassed, too. It's not just kratom. 2 really great companies have gone under due to this - Rain-tree (a company that sold mostly Amazon rainforest herbs & KT Botanicals who sold lots of different hard to find herbs & interesting stuff.
I was very sad to see these companies go under due to harassment. Once we lose these resources - it's going to be difficult to bring them back. Look at what's going on with marijuana - it's been under prohibition for around 75 years...?
It's just a weed that grows everywhere & has some beneficial properties. We have to act now if we want to keep kratom legal. It is possible to repeal these laws if people act now before it's too late.
They were trying to make kratom illegal in Lousiana but the bill stalled. These things can be fought.
