DD's Vit. D is low.

Doc. wants her to take 5000Iu's, but we started on 2000Iu's to see how it goes.

5000 in the past seemed to be a problem.

On the 2000iu's she feels overheated, shortly after tsking. She takes with food.

Her TSH was 5.0 at last lab and has antibodies. Other thyroid labs mid range. She did not tolerate Armour and had to stop.

We are trying to work on supplementing iron as her Ferritin is low normal.

Any thoughts on why she feels overheated after taking the Vit. D? The feeling comes on and then goes away after a while.

The supplement is in dry capsule form from Vital Nutrients.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Jane :)

Sometimes D does this to me. Have you tried a different brand? I had the same feeling when I first tried 5000ius and it was a good brand. I think it was a hot flash.

Minerals definitely do this to me too (think they feed babs, but I still need them). I had to work up to 5000iu (now on 10k). Maybe it's babs related. I'm not sure if even the docs know.

My hot flashes are much less in frequency though, even though I increased D and minerals and dealt with the hot flashes along the way.

I feel like we still have to support the body, whether lyme or co infections like what we're giving them--otherwise they keep deteriorating us.

Someone posted an awesome video on D a few months ago. Maybe there is something on it.

Hi Catgirl,

Thanks for the response. I agree she does need support vitamins and minerals.

Glad the hot flashes have decreased for you.

Jane, does she take her D with minerals?

Vitamin d increases your metabolic state and also is a prehormone...i rhink the 5,000 ius after a couple of months will really improve the way she feels. Pkease make sure she is getting at least 1,000 mg a day of calcium in her diet. When you are low in vitamin d, calcium will leach from your bone.

She takes the vitamin D by itself.

Iron with C later. We need to add in Zinc and B complex.

I will ask her Dr. about the calcium.

Thanks so much.
