I'm really confused by this...some seem to think they do. I would hate to think all the probiotics I'm taking are not a good idea. [Roll Eyes]

If you don't take them you will be really really sorry. That's all I can say!!

Some also say vitamins feed the spirochetes.. try living without the vitamins you need.

I would not think that probiotics from live fermented foods would feed parasites, but rather would eat them or digest them. These probiotics contain live enzymes and can latch onto the wall of your intestine.

As far as a probiotic pill, I would think it's possible (depending on what type of parasite and what strain of bacteria) - but from what I remember reading, one serving of sauerkraut is equivalent to a whole bottle of probiotics, so I would think that the live fermented food would help "flush out" the parasites, for lack of a better term.

Just searched it and it looks like sugar feeds parasites, but you probably already knew that.

Ellen, have you done a parasite cleanse? I was just looking at the BED response to this and she says if you have a perfect diet, do everything just right and then still have problems, it could be parasites.

But this is something I would be interested in doing now, before I go back on the diet, or at least during phase I.

Let me know if you guys have any recommendations on the easiest, or most beneficial way to do this.

I have been buying bottled Kimchi in the market but think I will start making my own. I'm assuming this will be just as nope for the gut as sauerkraut?? http://drbenkim.com/how-make-kim-chi.htm

If you are taking antiparasitic herbs and or salt/c, they will kill the parasites even if they are feeding on the probiotics.

I drank 2 quarts of Kefir a day when I was really sick to just keep my blood sugar balanced along with the herbs and salt/c.

The parasites still did a mass exodus. If you think about it, they feed on the food we eat, but the antiparasitics will kill them anyway.

So much stuff to try and figure out.
Hope its not feeding them.
I drink Komucha and take GI fLORA.

I am on so many abx's, I need to take probiotics.

Keep going, atheana.. if you fail to take probiotics while on abx, you will suffer the rest of your life.

I just started to make Kombusha. My cousin told me about it. She(my cousin) doesnt have Lyme but she ski's and runs marathons. She says not only does it have probiotics but it also detox's the body. She has a lot more energy and says she feels a big difference.I'm still going to take probiotics. I do not take them every day like I should but have to start.I definately would not stop probiotics and maybe look into something like Kombusha. I figure it's worth a shot!

Kombucha is great if you don't have a bad issue with candida/yeast. I was making my own kombucha and it actually made me worse.

I'm moving on to fermented vegetables now!

Here is some info. on Kombucha Body Ecology style... [Wink] http://bodyecology.com/articles/kombucha_benefits_and_drawbacks.php#.UUemzDfKhjM

But really I came to say that pg. 98-99 of the book say that cultured veggies go to work immediately in combating parasites. So good news!

Quote from that link:

"Even after fermentation, kombucha tea still retains too much sugar for the healing purposes of the Body Ecology diet."

I hope I can drink it later because I love it!!

As far as the diet is concerned you can, you can have kombucha in stage 2. I think she just wants you to heal your gut first so you can handle the kombucha.

"Stage two is followed once your inner ecosystem has healed. During this time, you may still be healing in other areas of your body, like your liver, and will want to continue a step-by-step process. The Body Ecology program acts as a roadmap for your healing journey."

It will take awhile for me to get to stage 2. That's for sure... but what else do I have to do with my life? All I have is time! [Smile]
