How common is it to have Livedo and Lyme or a co-infection and is there anything that can be done about it?

My legs (and arms) look gross. They're all purple and mottled. I don't like to wear short sleeves or shorts and summer's coming. I didn't have this my entire life. Just over the past few years (with Lyme).

It doesn't seem to be getting better. Even with aggressive abx treatment.

I immediately thought of Acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans, but it apparently does not occur in U.S. acquired cases. So, not sure what yours may be. Livedo description says it is caused by blockage of small veins/capillaries. Since we know lyme can cause hypercoagulation, that could explain it.

Some people are using enzymes, such as lumbrokinase, wobenzyme, etc. to help with the coagulation. Wouldn't hurt to try this. Have also heard of getting heparin shots, but don't think that is very common.

I have heard it associated specifically with Bartonella.

ACA is here in the states. My LLMD believes that I have it. No fun. I have not found any improvement with any treatment. I am currently trying oral collagen supplements. I know what you mean with summer coming and not wanting to be seen :-( My skin is not purple but it is very much atrophied (sp?).

I looked on the internet for photos of Livedo and one reminds me of my son's skin: livedo

Do you have very small pink dots in the center of each whitish patch?

His Lyme is reactivating. Not sure abt the Babesia duncani....

(And Dr S in FL called this skin condition something like 'chicken coop' pattern and said it implied Bartonella.)

I wish I really knew. [dizzy]

Forgot to mention that dermatologist took a biopsy of one red spot and it came back as vascular....

My skin looks exactly like that picture that you posted. My LLMD also said it was vascular but didn't really address it specifically. It's kind of gross especially as summer is coming and I do a lot of swimming.

I'm going to try serrapeptase and see if that helps at all. I've had it now for over 2 years.

Famous Dr. J Pediatric has an incredible set of photo's online-
of Lyme and company skin.

Y'know, in case you're looking for some pick me up reading.

But seriously, pretty amazing collection from the premier guy.

This is not Dr. J's website, but someone who admires him and is using his name. Good collection of material there.
