I am having a terrible time. I had parathyroid surgery about 11 weeks ago.

Around 6-7 weeks I felt like I was so much better.

Around 9 weeks I started felling worse with a feeling of rushing and humming blood in my veins and sounds hurt my ears and head.

It is like I am very sensitive to every thing.

It is almost midnight here and I never stay up this late.

I went to bed, hubby is moving which also makes me edgy and jumpy. He is snoring which is killing my head.

I got up and am on the couch, at least it is till and quiet out here. I just want to sleep.

I took some Rhodiola and it is not helping. What is happening, I have never been this sensitive to every thing around me.

I keep thinking maybe it is adrenal fatigue or maybe thyroid. My T3 is low, could this be part of the issue?

I have never had low T3 until the parathyroid surgery. I just feel so unbalanced. Anyone else been through this?

So sorry that you're having such a rough time.

When my husband had his first thyroid surgery, no problems. In the months afterwards, docs determined he needed to have the other portion also removed.

About three months after that his TSH levels were erratic and took some time to adjust. First sluggish then restless. It did get better.

I'm hypothyroid, and my insomnia gets worse when any of my levels are the least bit out of whack or if I haven't had enough water that day. I got an alkaline water flask that I keep on my bedside table now, and I drink that at night and first thing when I wake up to get in even more water.

Lyme can really do a domino effect with the hormone levels throughout our body. Hubby's endo says that until a person has levels disrupted, especially w/the thyroid, they don't appreciate all it does.

Have you checked your blood pressure?
Are you still taking magnesium?
Low magnesium can make you irritable and sensitive to noise and light, with insomnia and more headaches.

Rhodiola is very good for improving your stamina, but I don't think it would help you get to sleep.

I will consider mag. Maybe it will relieve the sound sensitivity.

I don't know, but I am really having issues. I am going call my doc again today.

I have to get some relief. My body is going crazy.

Thanks for your concern and input.

Forgot, Rhodiola seems to calm down the buzzing so I can get some sleep. Don't understand it, just know it helps.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, however if you stopped using antiparasitics, chances are this infection is rearing it's ugly head. Parasites can take several years to get rid of and it takes persistent almost non stop tx.

glm, thanks for the heads up. I have not taken it for about a month. I will get it out and keep going with it. May be a good lesson for me to lear

Rhodiola does something that helps to balance the HPA axis (hypothalamus - parathyroid - adrenal glands).
Perhaps this is why it's helping your symptoms.

Which brand are you using?
I found the Balanceutical brand to be helpful for fatigue, and I recently bought some Jarrow Rhodiola based on the strength of the reviews.

Gael mentions parasite symptoms that look like low magnesium to me.
Maybe the parasites are using up our magnesium.

Here are two products I use:
