Have not been on LymeNet for a month or so.

Steve's dad died and the visitation and funeral were very hard on me emotionally.

Bill was 87 and had been bed bound and unable to communicate for over a year -- he had full time in home nursing care. He had had several strokes and was in the early stages of Alzheimer's then had a fall which resulted in his breaking a bone in his thigh. After that he lost his ability to speak and move. Steve and I always thought he had a TIA or another stroke.

Anyway -- he died from sepsis. An unknown infection killed him within 24 hours of going to the ER.

Then I went home to visit my parents in West Virginia for a couple of weeks at Easter.
I enjoyed helping plant my parents garden. Had not done any gardening except for a few flowers for years.

I had a really good visit with my family. Also watched the kids from church hunt Easter eggs at my parents pastor's farm. The pastor had a cookout and had old fashioned games such as sack races etc for the kids.

I have gotten back into crafting which I did not have much time for in recent years. I crocheted my mom a scarf and knit 5 others while in West Virginia.

Got back into town and finally got the final test results for Steve from Fry lab. Posting that in a separate post. Some surprises there.

Even though it has been 6 months still do not have the autopsy results on Steve yet.

Bea, so nice to hear from you. So sorry to hear you suffered another loss.

It's wonderful you were able to spend nice time with family, and doing some creative things you enjoy. Sometimes I think it's these things that can see us through difficult times.

It is so nice to hear from you Bea! I am happy to hear you had a nice visit with your family. The crafting is a great idea too. :)

I can't believe they haven't gotten you the autopsy yet. Maybe they are fearful you'll sue for medical neglect. I'm sorry to hear about Steve's dad. Hang in there. :)

So sorry to hear about your father-in-law: 87 does seem to be a difficult age for some and only yesterday a friend's father too died at 87. It will have been very difficult for you, I am sure, especially so soon after your husband.

I am glad that you have also been part of some creative and life-giving experiences, getting back into craft, seeing the children with an Easter egg hunt: how timeless and reassuring.

All good wishes to you,
Carry

Hi Bea,

I'm so glad I've been around for the last few weeks, to see your post.

So glad to get news from you.

I am so sorry for your loss; I imagine that is a terrible blow coming on the heels of Steve's death. Is your MIL still alive?

Glad you've been able to spend some time with family; being productive is so healing...

Much love to you, Bea. If I can do something, let me know.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.

Canbravelyme -- Steve's mother passed away at age 70 over 10 years ago. She had alzheimers but died from sepsis from a kidney infection. At the time we were in Florida about a year into his tickborne illness journey -- don't think he had even been diagnosed at the time. So we missed her funeral.

Steve's step mother is still living at age 75. She is in fair health -- has conjestive heart disease and a bloodclot in her eye which has not responded to treatment so she is close to blind in that eye.

Steve had one brother and one nephew who live in Raleigh, North Carolina.

My parents, one brother with 4 kids and my sister all live in West Virginia. My older brother lives in Ohio. I still have many relatives on both sides of my parents family living mostly in West Virginia.

There were 36 relatives on mom's side of the family when we got together for Christmas dinner last year. With Steve having difficulty traveling I had not seen many of those people for 5 years or even longer.

I have really enjoyed spending more time with my relatives, but wish the circumstances making that possible were different. It has been really hard to adjust to having few restrictions on being able to come and go as I please and not being tied down to med schedules or worrying so much about finances.

Bea,

I can't read anything right now (just too tired to think & it's leaf-blower day on the premises) - but will come back later to absorb your update.

Just want to say "you've been missed - and are loved"

Hugs.
