I'm having a lot of heart palpitations (unprovoked by activities). I'm not on any new medications or supplements. I've been on all my meds very long-term.

I went to a doctor today for another reason and he heard it skip a beat once while he was listening. I am pretty sure it's not serious but it IS unusual for me. It usually doesn't happen away from strenuous exercise. It shows up as irregular on a home BP monitor also.

Any ideas for what I should do? It doesn't feel dangerous but it worries me a little so I'd like to remedy it somehow. My dad died suddenly of cardiac arrest (pretty suddenly in his 50's).

I am not deficient in magnesium. I take a lot of it. 1-2 grams per day.

This is typical of Lyme. Also, thyroid issues can cause this. Has your thyroid been tested?

Mine got so crazy I went to a cardiologist. It turns out I had bradycardia, which is also typical of Lyme, but the heart palpitations were being aggravated by two medications I was taking.

The pharmacy didn't catch it but I looked up all my meds and figured it out on my own. When I stopped the offending abx, things went back almost to normal.

If you are really worried, it wouldn't hurt to see a cardiologist to make sure nothing else is going on, especially with your history.

Have you been treated for babesia yet??

Also, you might try applying magnesium oil to make sure you are absorbing the magnesium.

I just had my thyroid tested. I don't have the results yet. I'm almost hoping my thyroid is abnormal so at least I can have some treatment for something that may be likely to stop a few symptoms.

Sort of. I just came off an artemisinin pulse but I've done a lot of them. I take other mild anti-malarials with it (plaquenil, mino, bactrim). None of my meds have changed.

My heart started acting up during babs treatment.

Thanks, that calms me down a little. Is it common for it to start so far in though? I'm about 5 months in since my last med change.

First thing to consider with irregular heart rhythm is MAGNESIUM deficiency &/or Taurine defciciency.

Avoiding all fluorescent lights can also help. Their flickering can cause heart rhythm to go a bit bonkers.

Hi Summer! Have you ever worn a holter monitor for a cardiologist (24 hour cardiac monitor)?

I'm 35 now but was diagnosed with tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension as well as MVP 3 1/2 years ago (pre lyme diagnosis of course and I was never expecting all that in my early 30s).

My palps are so bad that they cause me to lose my breath some days. Fun, I know. Some supplements can aggravate them as well as well as hormonal fluctuations.

If you haven't seen a cardiologist yet and had this test done, I would highly recommend doing it. It will put your mind more at ease about your symptoms and the use of beta blockers can certainly help some since you are already well dosed in magnesium.

Hope you feel better soon!

I had a full cardiac workup after palps did not go away. That did put my mind more at ease. But the palps were constant and driving me crazy. One thing that helped most was a supplement that had quercetin in it. It is contained in Hawthorn. I drink Hawthorn tea now.

No I have not done any heart testing although it was brought up the last time I went in. I don't know if I'll have to do it or not. I was hoping it would be a transient thing like many of my symptoms are. So far it's been about a week since it started.

Sorry you are not feeling well.

Have you had you iron/ferritin levels checked?

One of my early symptoms was heart palpitations. I have mitral valve prolapse; but it really went crazy once I became ill with LD. At one point I took Tenormin, but it brought my blood pressure down too low.

Parasites, toxic metals, different microorganisms are involved in the majority of heart problems.

www.klinghardtacademy.com

You can pull up the Neurotoxin Elimination Protocol and find many explanations therein.
You may have to read it carefully several times, because it is loaded with info.

Treating parasites is most important.

No I haven't checked iron/ferritin or treated parasites other than with artemisinin. It has calmed down slightly this week, but I still feel it at odd times.
