It seems to never go away. It's def my worst symptom lately.
I just cant have a life because of it. I am home in bed the whole time because of it. I can't think straight. My head feels like it's exploding ( i also get head movements with it).

I did one month of high doses of diflucan ( didnt help)
I am on IV antibiotics .
I take csm
I do salt/ c every once in a while ( 3x a week or 2x) don't want to start everyday.

I am not sure what to do at this point. I can't seem to be able yo deal with this symptom because it's 24/7

I tried all type of pain killers... Nothing reliefs it

Any suggestions? I am willing to try anything at this point.

Flagyl is a decent Babesia med, but 1 week/month is not enough.

Invanz is not antimalarial (for Babs) but many patients find relief on this med. It's possible that it hits Babesia to a degree. Maybe more than a degree. It hits lots of bacterial infections.

Dr. J (Wa DC) uses a drug from the same class with good results.

I think you need to track your symptoms, not only by day but by time of day.

My symptoms get worse 1-2 hours after taking abx, as blood levels of abx rise. If you are worse during or after infusing, that is a sign that the meds are working. (Barring allergic reaction, of course.)

It takes a LONG TIME to treat Lyme and co-infections. Expecting short courses to make big changes will only drive you crazy and make you doubt your treatment.

Keep track of your symptoms. You MUST be able to tell when you are herxing. That helps your doctor make treatment decisions.

Mostly, plan to settle in for the long haul. We do get better. It just takes time.

luvema, do you have headaches or pressure? You might have vasculitis in the brain which is called giant cell arteritis and is the inflammation of the arteries on the top and front of the head.

It can be diagnosed through artery biopsy or angiogram if they can see the inflammation on an x-ray. The treatment, unfortunately is high dose steroids.

This condition happens with a other inflammatory conditions and is not limited to lyme, but I've seen it in the literature.

My CT scan was normal.

But this pressure is never ending.

Boxermom, I just feel the same all day. So far not feeling a difference on the IV, but I only done it for a week.

I can't tell if I herx because i had those same symptoms before starting treatment.

The head pressure tends to get worse by the end of the day, but that's how it always been [Frown]

I've had the head pressure too. It was one of my first symptoms along with shooting pain in my right ear and jaw. I know what an awful feeling it is. Mine subsided with treatment but I never know when it will return. I get a lot of popping in my ears too.

I had also while I was on iv, eventually it got better, I did iv for 4 months. Takes lots of things to help with detox. Sometimes I would get a little relief with 6 to 8 glutathione tablets with alkaseltzer gold mixed with lemon/lime water. Lots and lots of lemon/lime water. I also like burber and parsley drops when I herx. Good luck! I had it a lot too, I know how bad it gets, dee

All symptoms are horrible, but this one is weird because it's not pain it just feels like my head is about to explode.

I'm with BoxerMom (babs). I also read on the PARASITE WARRIOR's THREAD (recent post) that vitamin C increases the strength of some abx. I took vitamin c and never noticed, but when I took salt/c it hit me hard (pain). So it increased the abx so they were hitting/stirring up the lyme. Maybe some parasite med or herbs would be better for you than salt/c.

I feel for you, this was also my biggest symptom for about 4 years, try to stick to the treatment and hopefully it will get better,

At least for a temporary solution, I've used guaifenesin (in any drug store, by the cold medicines) it can take the pressure down a little bit

Hope this helps a little

I've had bartonella babesiosis and lyme for 25-30 yrs but only this long because not treated long enough. The head pressure is gross and I get an irritable feeling with it usually worse at night.

I take oxycodone for my severe neuropathy which I think is cidp from bart but when my head is bad I take ibuprofin 600 mg and a decongestant like zyrtec d and it helps a little.

I had a spect scan that showed encephalopathy possibly caused by vasculitis. I don't know if your doc wants to do that but the reason mine did is to see if the scan improves after treatment. Just some things I've done.

I think the ibuprofin(advil) helps because its an anti inflammatory and thats why your head feels like its inflamed because it is! God bless you hang tough in God's grace.

I tried so many over the counter anti inflammatory, and I am on high doses of fish oil, but nothing is helping.

I am hoping treatment will help!
