For possible testing!! I did a little searching on the Internet and am pretty positive that it was a dog tick not a deer tick and was not that small either - any advice on what if anything I should do next? Seing that I have suffered from lyme and babesiosis for over a decade I will not allow my daughter to go through this! Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy post! Lenny

I was just reading yesterday a positive lyme test on a dog tick from Igenex. I thought it was lymenet? Maybe our FB support group?

You can send it to Igenex... but it takes 3 wks to get it back. You just need to decide to treat the bite!
I think the girl in NC who died got it from a dog tick. It was RMSF.

Would highly recommend finding a doctor who will prescribe 6+ weeks of Amoxicillin (which is what kids are given who are too young for Doxy) or Doxy, depending on her age. Does your LLMD see kids?
Could always start out with urgent care to get some immediate drugs, which will buy you some time to keep looking for a longer script. I have found the urgent care centers to be pretty free with drugs, but you have to give them some "hook" to allow them to do it (ie brought my daughter in for prophylactic abx in a similar situation and urgent care doctor said he would give her the abx, but said it was because she also had a cough.
Her cough was very slight - I think he wanted to help us and just needed a hook b/c prophylactic abx isn't standard fare for mainstream docs(although it should be in this situation!)

Well I went to a few docs who even w/ me begging did not give antibiotics- 2 weeks after the bite my little girl has a 104 fever and Is not acting right- coincidental ? Maybee - this time her pediatrician gave a script for amox- I pray to god this works out okay-

WHY you need an ILADS "educated" or "minded" Lyme Literate doctor (whether MD or ND, or both) - starting with assessment / evaluation.

- Antibiotics can cause a worsening of symptoms from a "herxheimer" reaction. See the section here for CHILDREN - to ease a herx. Also see the note to avoid acetaminophen.
- Not an exclusive or formal list. Remember to connect with STATE and LOCAL lyme support groups for the best area options. Just always check to be sure they are of like-mind with the groups above, with ILADS as the educational base.

- I do not know about using a rife machine on a child. I could not easily find that answer with a quick search. Still, you might find this helpful. And the LL ND detail may be of help for your daugher - at least until she might be able to see a LLMD (waiting times can be quite long).

I got my tick flu 2 weeks after my exposure. Also had high fever. Plus pain in head, neck and back. Vomiting. Sweating. Couldn't eat. Fainted twice.
My problem infection has always been Babesia, which on top of its own severe symptoms makes Lyme symptoms much worse.
Will your doc test for Babesia? If she has Babesia duncani, she should be treated ASAP. Duncani is a horrible, virulent strain. Do not let it go chronic.

Her pediatric dr gave me a 30 day script for amoxicillin twice a day- she only got bit 2 weeks ago- tick was not engorged and prob only on her for less than an hr- is this treatment enough? Doc said a test this early is pointless and that even though he doubts her high fever is related to tick bite he said if it was his daughter he would want to be safe! Thank you all for the input and advice!

That makes no difference. Infection can occur the very instant of the bite (from an infected tick). The moment the skin is punctured and the tick mouth parts come in contact with blood.
Within a short time of a bite, lyme can invade the central nervous system, throughout the entire body and brain. Same for other tick-borne infections.
Most doctors do not know this because the IDSA is ignorant in this regard.
I hope you can find an ILADS educated LLMD or LL ND.
In the meantime, do try to get her assessed and tested for other TBD because they can be fatal if left untreated. Antibiotics cannot treat babesia. Other Rx is required.
And, for lyme, a single antibiotic can CAUSE chronic lyme to develop. Combination treatment is required to address the cyst form & biofilm. Antibiotics cannot do that.
