My TGF beta 1 test came back at 15,000 !!! Is this more likely lyme or mold or something else?

In Dec my c4a test was 8,000 but using Welchol it dropped fairly quickly to 2600.. My c3a was normal both times..

I am waiting to see a LLMD but not sure what to do in the meantime as my current doctor has no clue.. Any ideas?

I am currently taking Omnicef, Zith and will probably add tindo.. I orginially tested postive for lyme with Igenex but not positive for any co-infections..

From what I gather, it's probably mold. Dr. S (the mold doc) says anything over 5000 is alarming.

Mine was 18,000 dropped to 11,000 now back up. I see a practioner who works with Dr S- she wasn't alarmed

I have read that Losartan ( blood pressure med used off label) can reduce TGF beta 1.. Anyone tired this?

Yes, I've been taking Losartan for about 6 months. I haven't rechecked my TGF beta yet though.

No side effects from the Losartan.

Hey Birdie67-
How much Losartan are you taking? 25mg twice daily? Have you noticed any positive results since being on it?

My daughter's was 21,000. Doctor prescribed VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) nasal spray. Her level decreased to 13,000 at one year mark. Isn't currently using it.

You can find out more about it in Shoemaker's Surviving Mold book or just google. I came across this just now. http://lymebook.com/blog/research-news/ccsvi-vip-nasal-spray/

Can someone tell me what the test code is for this testing you are referring to: TGF Beta-1 - Transforming Growth Factor Beta-1
I use labcorps. I tried to get my doctor to do the test but they said they couldn't find it in the system. thanks so much! lindy
