Every so often I get one petechiae. Starts out reddish then turns purple then fades. Usually occurs on the underside of my arm.
Right now, I have one. just one, on the inside of my elbow. I was wondering, is only having one something to worry about? I can't call it a rash because there's only one.
I have low white blood cells and low monocytes, lymphs and thrombocytes are normal.

Could it be bartonella? Look up its symptoms and signs. Have you treated for bart before?
Posted by BuffyFan (Member # 34679) on :
no, not treating bart at the moment...don't know if it could be bart
I'd think I'd have petechiae all the time if I had bart???? not sure!
I will look up symptoms and signs though. thanks!!
I have a doc appt. in about 2 weeks, I'll mention it at my appt.

I was told by a non LLMD that they were normal and part of aging.....
But then I have been told a lot of things.. You are right to check with your doc at the next appt.. Maybe take a picture in case it fades!

I thought these indicated babesia as that is a red blood cell parasite and it is like the popping of the cell that we see.
Also seen in aging population. I have a lot of them and two even on my forehead. Bright red of course. I think I have too many to be just from aging.

I get these and other strange bruises for a period of 7-10 days every month.
Could the underside of your arm be from a pinch from a shirt seam, or from resting on a ledge of something?
I know if I rest my forearms on a table during that time frame I will get burst blood vessels.
Also on the bottom of my big toes.
I believe the cause, for me, is lyme and co because it is so cyclical.

No, it's not from being pinched. I"ve been wearing tank tops/short sleeves, haven't been resting my arms on a table or anything.
I took pics yesterday. Glad I did cause it's already fading today.

I have more and more of those everytime I look at my skin. Along with more mole/freckles, stretch marks, busted blood vessels. Something messes with the skin but I couldn't tell you what!

well I found out I now have iron deficiency anemia. My doc said the petechiae *could* be related to it. I go back in a couple of weeks to retest. Doc said petechiae is usually related to low platelets.
sometime after I posted, a couple more popped up. I also had one the inside of my leg by my knee. This one was red but had a bruise around it.

I have them ever since I started taking 1 adult aspirin per day. So it makes me think low platelets.

Stephen Buhner mentions in his new book that mycoplasma can cause these bright red blisters, too.
